Job Description

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

Netflix has been changing how people watch shows and movies, enabling on-demand access to thousands of movies and TV shows. Recently, Netflix has expanded its entertainment offering to include Live content, like the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson match, the NFL Christmas Games, Beyonce's halftime show, the SAG Awards ceremony, and more. Bringing stories in real time to 300+ million viewers around the world is a hard challenge, demanding exceptional levels of scaling, reliability, stability, and operational excellence across our Cloud Platform stack.

About the Team

Cloud Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) builds and operates the foundational platform that Netflix runs on — compute, storage, networking, and performance infrastructure at global scale. We think of ourselves as platform engineers for infrastructure: building the systems, tools, and abstractions that let Netflix's engineering organization move fast without compromising reliability or efficiency.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to establish and grow this team in Warsaw — combining people leadership with infrastructure and distributed systems expertise. This role offers the opportunity to help shape both the team culture and the technical direction from the start, with direct impact on how every CIE domain team operates.

The work done by CIE is systems-level and technically deep. If you want to understand the kind of engineering this team supports, you can explore:

What You Will Do

  • Build and scale an effective, autonomous infrastructure tooling team in Warsaw,

  • Define and drive the vision for CIE’s internal tooling strategy that reduces duplication across compute, storage, networking, and performance teams.

  • Collaborate closely with CIE’s teams to identify high-impact opportunities and deliver tools that enhance the effectiveness of all CIE teams.

  • Build, mentor, and support the growth of a cohesive team of engineers; foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and constructive feedback.

  • Encourage adoption of new capabilities through strong cross-functional partnerships and clear, tailored communication

  • Champion engineering excellence and measurable productivity improvements across the organization.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience as a technical manager working with distributed systems — you have built and operated complex, large-scale software services in the cloud and can engage credibly with the engineers doing this work.

  • Practical understanding of at least one of: compute scheduling, distributed storage systems, or cloud networking. Experience building or working with the compute, networking, or storage components of a public cloud (we use AWS) is strongly preferred.

  • A product-focused approach and experience understanding the needs of internal engineering partners, with a track record of building platforms that engineers adopt and value.

  • Experience delivering solutions to complex technical and organizational challenges — including large-scale migrations — while building and maintaining trust with partners across the organization.

  • Strong software development background that enables you to simplify complexity and guide the team to deliver straightforward, effective solutions.

  • Effective communication skills (written and spoken), with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience as a people leader building and leading effective, high-performing teams.

  • Strong understanding of cloud architectures and distributed systems.

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance short-term goals and longer-term vision.

  • A product mindset grounded in partner and business outcomes — you measure success by the impact on the teams you serve, not only by the features you release.

  • Experience reliably delivering on commitments while maintaining high engineering standards and building lasting trust with partners.

  • A learning-oriented mindset: you give and receive feedback, listen actively, and continually seek to improve yourself and your team.

  • Ability to navigate competing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and programs.
