Position Highlight:
A Liver Transplant Coordinator Nurse plays a critical role in the complex and life-saving process of liver transplantation. This specialized nurse is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of care for patients undergoing liver transplants, from initial evaluation through post-operative care. The Liver Transplant Coordinator Nurse works closely with a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, hepatologists, and social workers, to ensure that patients receive comprehensive, personalized care. Key responsibilities include patient education, scheduling and coordinating transplant-related procedures, monitoring patient status, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.

Job Description:
Provide and promote the delivery of 24/7 transitional quality patient care for a designated group of patients through role modeling, displaying excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice, and acting as educator for the transplant patient population. Provide a continuum of care and education for pre and post-transplant patients and their families (living donor or recipient) and serve as a patient advocate in the healthcare system and community.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years nursing experience or other direct patient care experience working with complex patients required.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format required.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisplinary team, using good judgment and assessment skills required.
- Ability to demonstrate competent leadership and teaching ability required.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
- Willingness to travel required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior solid organ transplant experience preferred. Prior cardiology experience (ICU, CCU, or equivalent) preferred. Based on position, prior pulmonary experience (ICU, CF, PH or equivalent) preferred.
- Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.
- Transplant coordination certification after two years of hire or transfer date preferred.
