We are seeking a highly experienced and self-driven Senior Developer with more than 10 years of expertise in software development, solution architecture, and system design. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical skills in IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) as a primary area of specialization, along with strong secondary skills in Java, exposure to Python, and an understanding of Generative AI (GenAI) technologies. Cloud proficiency, especially in the AWS stack, is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end design, development, and deployment of solutions built using IBM BAW.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define solution architecture and technical roadmap.
  • Develop robust, scalable backend services primarily using Java.
  • Leverage AWS cloud services (Lambda, S3, ECS, DynamoDB, etc.) to build secure and cloud-native applications.
  • Provide technical leadership on automation and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Participate in the modernization of legacy systems using modern tech stacks and architectural best practices.
  • Explore and integrate GenAI capabilities to drive intelligent process automation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code; conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and recommend new tools, frameworks, or approaches.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development and architecture.
  • Expertise in IBM BAW (Business Automation Workflow) – workflow design, solution integration, and deployment required.
  • Strong proficiency in Java (Spring/Spring Boot) for backend development.
  • Exposure to Python and Generative AI tools or platforms (e.g., OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud stack and cloud-native development patterns.
  • Strong understanding of architectural design patterns, microservices, and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with business and technical stakeholders.
  • IBM BAW certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Prior experience working on AI/ML-enabled workflow solutions.
  • This position works onsite at the Kemper office

The range for this position is $111,900  to $186,700. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
