  • Translate customer needs into clear product requirements and specifications
  • Serve as product owner, aligning engineering, manufacturing, and business teams
  • Identify and prioritize adjacent product opportunities beyond the initial propellant tank

Technical & Performance Definition

  • Establish key performance metrics (KPPs/KPIs) including mass efficiency, pressure capability, reliability, manufacturability, and cost
  • Define performance, cost, and schedule targets aligned with market needs and business goals
  • Partner with engineering to ensure designs meet mission and business requirements

Business Model & Economics

  • Develop and maintain the product business case, including:
  • Unit economics and cost models
  • Pricing strategy
  • Volume assumptions and scaling scenarios
  • Evaluate make vs. buy, vertical integration, and supply chain strategy

Go-to-Market & Customer Engagement

  • Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy
  • Work closely with sales to:
  • Identify target customers (satellite OEMs, propulsion providers, primes)
  • Support capture efforts and proposals
  • Engage directly with customers to refine requirements and validate product-market fit

Differentiation & Market Positioning

  • Define the competitive positioning of the product
  • Identify and articulate differentiators (e.g., performance, cost, lead time, integration, reliability)
  • Monitor competitors and industry trends in additive manufacturing and spacecraft hardware

Program Execution Support

  • Align cross-functional teams around milestones, deliverables, and priorities
  • Track progress against cost, schedule, and technical goals
  • Support risk identification and mitigation strategies

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work across engineering and business functions
  • Strong analytical skills, including cost modeling and trade studies
  • Experience translating technical systems into customer-facing value propositions
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent technical communications skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with additive manufacturing (metal AM strongly preferred)
  • Background in spacecraft or launch vehicle development
  • Familiarity with qualification and certification of aerospace hardware
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced development environment

Key Traits for Success

  • Technically credible with engineers; can go deep when needed
  • Commercially minded; understands how products win in the market
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; able to build structure from scratch
  • Strong communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bias toward ownership and execution

Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • MBA or equivalent business experience (a plus, not required)
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace, ideally with exposure to:
  • Spacecraft propulsion systems

Why This Role Matters

This role will define not just a single product, but the foundation of a scalable product line in 3D-printed spacecraft hardware. You will directly shape how advanced manufacturing translates into real, adopted space systems.
