Job Description:

Senior Principal Solution Architect - Dental API & Portal Platforms is a hands-on Senior Architect / Lead Designer with expertise in API design, serverless architectures, and digital portal solutions. This role provides technical leadership in the Dental ecosystem with deep specialization in AWS serverless APIs and Provider & Client Portal implementations. The Senior Principal Solutions Architect will work closely with the relevant Heads of Technology Solutions, supporting the translation of business needs/requirements into Technology strategy and roadmaps, ensuring technology investments build business value.

Preferred skills

• AWS architecture certification or equivalent from another cloud solutions provider.
• Experience working across all IT functional areas preferred.
• Experience with GraphQL, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and responsive design principles.
• Experience with API security patterns (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API key management).
• Understanding of user experience design principles for portal applications.
• A good understanding of privacy and data protection regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Experience leading and mentoring mid-level and senior architects.
• Leading knowledge of performance testing coding best practices, and load and performance testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, related field or equivalent work experience required with 10+ years industry experience (i.e., FinTech, InsurTech) preferred but not mandatory.
• 10 years experience with dental claims administration
• Extensive experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, API Gateway patterns, and serverless architectures on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, etc.).
• Strong experience with modern web portal technologies and front-end frameworks for building Provider and Client portal experiences.
• Deep understanding of the core Dental platform and its integration points with surrounding systems and digital channels.
• Experience in architecture, design, and development in a highly regulated industry, preferably Financial Services but not a requirement.
• Technically minded problem solver with proven ability to design and implement scalable API and portal solutions.
• Fluent in relational databases, big data, legacy systems integration, and design patterns.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and deliverables for more than one agile team.
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with appropriate technical depth to varied audiences and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on architect designing and prototyping scalable, cost-effective, distributed Dental API and Portal Platform Solutions on single or hybrid cloud environments.
• Recognized technical expert and thought leader in API architecture, serverless design patterns, and digital portal experience platforms.
• Serve as lead architect and subject matter expert for the Dental API Layer and Provider/Client/External Member Portals, driving technical direction and platform evolution.
• Lead architecture, design, data and technical discussions relative to future architecture direction for the Dental digital experience ecosystem and related product portfolios.
• Develops a long-term technology digital solution strategy that modernizes our Digital Experience capabilities, Digital Channels, decreases technical debt, and increases execution velocity.
• Serves as the primary technical liaison between architecture, engineering teams, and business stakeholders, providing strategic insights and problem-solving expertise.
• Collaborate with the relevant Heads of Technology Solutions, supporting the translation of business needs/requirements into Technology strategy and roadmaps, ensuring technology investments build business value.
• Ensure that Digital Platform Solutions introduced adhere to the company's enterprise Patterns and Standards.
• Help build Digital cloud solutions for server, container, and serverless environments that support enterprise solutions running in AWS and on-premises data centers.
• Design Secure Digital Cloud Solutions preventing downtime or breaches. A good understanding of privacy and data protection regulations (e.g., HIPAA) are preferred but not a requirement.
• Exercise independent and fair consensus-building skills when conflicts arise.
• Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure execution of long-term strategic plans that will drive financial results.
• Works in conjunction with enterprise groups, vendors and other internal technology partners to remove technical debt and keep technology and application platforms current and secure while modernizing our footprint.
• Develop strategies to increase cloud design knowledge throughout the enterprise; plays a key role in knowledge transfer, talent development, and mentoring engineers across the platform teams.
• Help build modern cloud engineering practices within agile development teams.
• Respectfully challenges customers/partners when going in the wrong direction and escalates appropriately.
• Provide key support to the development of the overall Digital Enterprise Strategy.
• Drive engineering teams to leverage modern technology paradigms (e.g., serverless, containers, microservices).
• Support other platform partners/technical specialists during initial preparation and ramp-up stages.
