Position Summary:
The ambulance operator is responsible to provide high quality emergency transportation to sick and injured patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Responds to calls when dispatched
Inspect the ambulance before each shift, checking the fuel, oil, transmission fluid, wiper fluid, and coolant, reporting any needed repairs.
Check the first aid and medical supplies inventory levels before each shift and ensure the ambulance is well stocked
Assist patients onto gurneys and loading them into and out of the ambulance
Keep inside and outside of ambulance clean
Sanitize the ambulance and safely dispose of any medical waste and soiled linens
Administer first aid such as bandaging, splinting, and administering oxygen.
Maintain driving log with daily entries and noting patients’ names and addresses, travel times, mileage and service performed
Report accident facts to medical personnel and police officers, when necessary
Desired Attributes:
• Minimum two years’ driving an ambulance preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED
Required Licensure/Certification:
• AHA BLS
• NYS Driver’s License

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
