Job Description

Summary

Apple is where individual creativities gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other’s ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It’s the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you’ll do more than join something — you’ll add something. Imagine what you could do here! The System-Wide Quality organization is seeking an exceptional software quality automation engineer to join the User Experience Quality team—a unique testing team that simulates real-world customer usage across Apple products to ensure we ship software that truly delights. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to drive the execution of our automation strategy for User Experience Quality as part of a multi-year evolution from periodic manual test passes to a comprehensive, continuous view of software quality at scale.

Description

Unlike traditional QA teams focused on functional validation of specific apps or features, the User Experience Quality team takes a fundamentally different approach—assessing the function and feel of end-to-end use cases that matter most in our customers' daily lives. This role requires a technical leader who can pioneer AI-driven automation frameworks that assess the holistic experience of using Apple products—capturing not just what works, but what feels right. You'll build intelligent systems that complement and extend our expert manual testers, transforming their insights into scalable, repeatable quality signals, delivering a continuous pulse of user experience quality that directly influences executive decisions on product readiness, strategic priorities, and future quality investments.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science or 3-5+ years of equivalent automation experience with strong proficiency in modern scripting or compiled languages such as Python, Java, or Swift Track record of driving development and deployment of testing tools and infrastructure at scale, with knowledge of the software development lifecycle and SQA methodologies Ability to write, maintain, and execute comprehensive automation test plans, plus familiarity with Continuous Integration tools (e.g., Jenkins) and version control systems (e.g., GitHub) Ability to analyze test failures, triage issues, and prioritize bugs based on severity of user impact Proficiency with Apple operating systems, including iOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AI-driven testing approaches or intelligent automation Experience with robotics-driven testing approaches Proficiency in Xcode, XCTest, and XCUIAutomation Skill in manual software testing, with a focus on UI and UX Experience with data analytics, telemetry systems, and presenting technical insights to diverse audiences
