As a global leader in manufacturing construction materials for the building envelope, we offer anchors and reinforcement, moisture protection, thermal performance, wall estimating software, and air barrier systems for commercial and residential masonry markets.The Senior Manager – Planning & Scheduling is responsible for leading enterprise-wide production planning, inventory management, logistics, and scheduling functions across all H&B facilities. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Production & Cost Coordinator and the Inventory & Logistics Manager positions while driving alignment between operations, supply chain, procurement, customer service, and sales to ensure optimal service levels, inventory performance, production flow, and transportation efficiency.
This position plays a critical leadership role in developing scalable planning and inventory strategies that support customer fulfillment, operational efficiency, working capital optimization, and long-term business growth. The Senior Manager – Planning & Scheduling will lead all aspects of demand and supply planning, inventory control, interfacility coordination, logistics management, and production scheduling while maintaining strong collaboration with Procurement/Sourcing on material availability, supplier performance, and inventory strategy.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Planning & Scheduling Leadership
- Lead enterprise-wide production planning and scheduling activities across all facilities to ensure customer demand, production capacity, and inventory strategies are aligned.
- Directly oversee and mentor the Production & Cost Coordinator and Inventory & Logistics Manager positions.
- Establish standardized planning, scheduling, and inventory management processes across the organization.
- Drive proactive management of production schedules, material flow, capacity utilization, and inventory positioning to support customer service objectives.
- Lead Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) support activities through collaboration with operations, procurement, sales, and customer service teams.
- Monitor work-in-progress, material availability, backlog conditions, and production constraints while driving corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and maintain KPI reporting related to forecast accuracy, inventory turns, on-time delivery, schedule attainment, freight performance, and service levels.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, scheduling efficiency, inventory optimization, and logistics performance.
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
- Oversee enterprise inventory strategies for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory using historical demand, forecasted demand, and operational requirements.
- Ensure inventory levels support customer fulfillment requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory exposure.
- Collaborate closely with Procurement/Sourcing to align purchasing activity with production schedules, inventory targets, and supply chain risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide oversight of cycle count programs, physical inventories, inventory reconciliations, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Lead interfacility transfer strategies and inventory balancing efforts across all H&B locations.
- Drive PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and inventory optimization initiatives throughout the organization.
- Maintain visibility and communication regarding inventory constraints, material shortages, supply interruptions, and customer exposure risks.
Logistics & Distribution Management
- Provide strategic oversight for all freight and logistics operations, including inbound, outbound, interfacility, domestic, import, LTL, TL, and parcel transportation.
- Develop and manage transportation strategies that optimize freight cost, service levels, and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate logistics providers, freight partners, routing strategies, and transportation KPIs to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to support efficient product flow and shipment execution.
- Lead initiatives related to freight optimization, transportation analytics, and logistics process improvements.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Plant Managers, Operations Leadership, Procurement, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Service to align operational priorities and execution strategies.
- Facilitate planning and scheduling meetings with cross-functional stakeholders to address priorities, constraints, and customer requirements.
- Support new product introductions, packaging standards, and operational process improvements.
- Drive accountability and communication across departments to ensure alignment on customer commitments and operational objectives.
- Support strategic initiatives, system enhancements, ERP/MRP improvements, and supply chain optimization projects.
- Perform additional projects, duties or assignments as directed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Associates degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive experience in production planning, product engineering, scheduling, inventory management, logistics, project management or supply chain leadership within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and multi-site operations preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, production planning systems, inventory control methodologies, and supply chain best practices.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production flow, logistics networks, and inventory optimization strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational performance improvements.
- Previous experience managing employees.
- Ability to travel up to 25%
