You ensure quality in the factory and are responsible for meeting quality targets. You are fully responsible for the people, machinery and the identification and elimination of quality losses and problems in the department. You grow your team’s capabilities and coordinates departmental activities in accordance with corporate standards, local requirements and ISO standards. In this role, you report directly to the plant manager with dotted line responsibility to corporate quality.

How you will contribute

You will ensure that all quality objectives, goals and targets in the factory (including regional and global commitments) are met. You will develop and track your department’s budget and eliminate losses. With your team, you will conduct regular plan-do-act-check assessments to plan how targets will be met, executing the plan and periodically checking and taking action to stay on track. In addition, you will ensure that there is strict adherence with all appropriate laws, food safety quality standards and consumer requirements of all manufactured products and manage crisis situations internally and externally in ways that support the company’s image, policies and business. As a people leader, you are responsible for recruitment and structuring of the department to ensure there are sufficient resources to deliver on plant objectives, set and assess performance goals, and coach and mentor team members.

Reporting to: Plant Director

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Quality Systems

  • Develop, plan and implement quality systems within manufacturing/ plant site conforming to Quality Chain Management System standards and taking corrective measures as necessary. 

  • Obtain thorough working knowledge of quality systems development, application and conformance assessment at all stages of the Quality Chain especially within manufacturing/ plant site

  • Ability to provide leadership and direction within the manufacturing unit for the development, interpretation and uniform application of quality systems.

  • Ability to identify and eliminate gap for QCMS implementation to achieve satisfactory rating in Corporate Quality Audits and rally the plant team to provide corrective actions and closure of non-conformances 

  • Be the Quality Management Representative (QMR) related to ISO9001

  • Ensure the execution of the internal audits to ensure Quality System Compliance System implementation and Certification (MI Audit, FSSC22000, ISO 9001, Halal, BPOM, RSPO, PAS96).

  • Conducts periodic Quality systems training on GMP, Quality System procedures and other QCMS related training requirements.

  • Ensure maintenance and controls of the Plant Documentations in eQCMS and conduct verification on compliance of Plant Operations records to established procedures on records identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposal


2. Sanitation, Pest Control and Food Safety Management

  • Knowledge of HACCP (physical, chemical, microbiological) and expertise in application & inspection for compliance of HACCP principles;

  • Knowledge of food science/microbiology/allergen control –relative to sanitation and food safety. 

  • Knowledge and understand good manufacturing practices, plant operations, sanitation policies/ procedures, sanitary design, pest control, and allergen control

  • Maintenance of HACCP Plans, be Food Safety Team Leader (FSTL) as part of FSSC 22000 Requirement

  • Expert & primary resources for issues related to food safety (special situations);

  • Strategically manage food safety;

  • Understanding of interrelationship of product/ process/ packaging to effectively make product quality specifications & compliance decisions;

  • Provide expertise and judgment in the identification and assessment of food safety and quality risk at various stages of the Quality Chain

  • Knowledge of Label compliance to Regulatory Requirements

  • Be Plant Special Situation Coordinator in the event of Quality or Regulatory Related issues

  • Manage the pest control program/ activities with Pest Control Operator to ensure compliance to GMP, Quality Policies and HACCP Standards

  • Manage  the cleaning activities performed by 3rd party cleaners and implementing cleaning schedules/ plans and verification methods to ensure that the cleaning practices are complying to GMP, Quality Policies and HACCP standards


3. Laboratory & Technical Services

  • Manage the microbiological, analytical and sensory testing services for timely and accurate testing of RM PM, in-process materials and finished products, as per approved quality testing plans.  

  • Review and approve Quality Testing Plans for RM PM, in-process materials, finished products and retained samples to verify conformance to specifications and compliance to HACCP, Mondelez QP and Regulatory requirements.  

  • Ensure the availability of qualified manpower, suitable laboratory equipment, and supplies necessary for the conduct of verification activities for incoming RM PM, in-process material and finished products and utility

  • Manage the in-house analytical laboratory function and ensure external laboratories is within the acceptable overhead budget and promote optimised technical servicing, savings and prevention of cost variances.  

  • Manage programs for training new staff, checking proficiency of analysts and participation in inter-laboratory testing (as applicable) to ensure appropriate skills are available and continuously upgraded

  • Ensure the implementation of safety program in the laboratory to ensure that all the staffs are working in a safe environment at all times and ensure compliance to environmental aspect on the chemical waste ex testing on the Lab, i.e. proper treatment and handling

4. Process and Improvement to ensure conformance to Specifications of Process and Product Parameters

  • Manage in line Inspection and Testing as outlined on the Product Quality Monitoring Plan (PQMP) and Process Operating Monitoring (POMP), conduct evaluation, analysis and interpretation of results of Quality key performance indicators related to in line testing and line performance.

  • Ensure corrective measures are taken as necessary and provides recommendations for immediate resolution of issues.

  • Ensure the implementation of process & improvement program in the line are complying to Safety requirement and environmental aspect


5. Specification Management

  • Understanding of raw Materials product/process/specifications documents;

  • Ability to write specs & manage spec documents;

  • Ability to modify elements of spec documents;

  • Understanding of spec development process;

  • Understanding of government agencies;

  • Experience in auditing; Expertise to access/approve specs relating to food safety, quality & regulatory compliance;

  • Knowledge of product and packaging development process and change management process

  • Ensure RM, PM, FG, POG specification review with R&D and Plant is conducted regularly


6. Consumer Response

  • Become familiar with consumer complaint data and develop ability to identify trends;

  • Provide in-depth analysis of consumer complaints and root cause identification;

  • Influence the resolution of consumer dis-satisfiers through

  • administration and oversight of the Quality Improvement Plan

7. Authorities

  • Authorized to assign employees to maintain quality and safety management system 

  • Authorized to take action related to ensure the quality and safety management system conforms to the requirements

  • Authorizes to take action to ensure that the process are delivering their intended outputs and to report any opportunity for improvement 

  • Authorized to maintain integrity of the quality and safety management system when changes to the systems are planned and implemented


8. Safety and Environment

  • The following improvement need to be executed such as HACCP implementation, maintain ISO 9001, improve food defence, safety record, reduce quality complain and implement 5S

  • Understand and Able to run of safety and health activities in site ie :

  • Carry out and follow health & safety rules for activities in the working area

  • Understand the potential risks and hazards in the working area

  • Able to run a BOS program as per annual target

  • Know and understand the reporting flow of Labour accidents in the site

  • Follow the DMS and perform a safety induction / safety briefing in the working area

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food technology or relavent majors

  • At least 3 years of experience in equivalent roles

  • Working experience in MNC is preferable

  • Good command in English
