About you and this role
Ready to apply your process automation and data skills in a world-scale chemical plant? We are seeking ambitious master’s students eager to apply their skills with an internship in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.
You will be welcomed in our Manufacturing & Engineering department working closely with experienced process automation engineers. Our team is engaged in numerous projects focusing on process data analysis, modeling, and controller design for complex dynamic chemical processes. This internship provides valuable professional experience in a dynamic, multinational corporation, allowing students to interface with colleagues and leaders across various roles.
This position is ideal for students looking to complete an internship semester, minor, or thesis within our Process Control & Automation team.
Responsibilities
- Analyze process data to identify performance improvements in chemical manufacturing operations.
- Support development of process control performance indicators and assist in designing and optimizing control strategies.
- Create Python tools and Excel-based analyses for data visualization, monitoring, and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and plant operators on automation and improvement projects.
- Contribute to troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Systems & Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other related disciplines.
- Strong working knowledge of English. Preferably also good working knowledge of Dutch.
- You can start between August and October 2026 for a duration of five to six months (exact timing to be discussed).

- Proficiency in Python for application development and data analysis
- Advanced skills in Excel, including pivots, charting, and macros
- Analytical, structured, and independent work style, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team
- Strong relationship-building skills with peers and collaborators from various departments, especially Plant Operations
- Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies
- Awareness of safety, environmental, and sustainability issues
Additional notes
- There is no visa support for this role.
- Selected candidates are expected to work on-site in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.
