About the role

We are seeking several dynamic and customer service-oriented students to join our team as a Concierge Desk and Event Assistant at Thornton Hall.

In this role, you will provide operational, event, and administrative support for the School of Engineering & Applied Science, while also serving as the first point of contact for visitors, prospective students, and parents. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff the concierge desk at Thornton Hall, delivering exceptional customer service to students, visitors, faculty, and staff on a daily basis.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks to support faculty and staff in the A wing of Thornton Hall.
  • Provide backup assistance for E-School Tours to ensure a seamless experience for visitors.
  • Perform light cleaning and housekeeping duties related to event and building support.
  • Support event operations by setting up and dismantling various school-sponsored events.
  • Offer guidance and directions within the school premises, including delivery locations.
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly staff meetings and required in-service training sessions.
  • Provide information and assistance during emergencies as needed.
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend events on occasion.

Federal Work-Study eligible students are preferred.

Hiring and Training this summer and fall: We are actively seeking candidates to join our team this summer and fall, with comprehensive training provided. Successful candidates may have the opportunity for extended hours over the summer to support ongoing events and initiatives.

Undergrad student wage position for less than 20 hours per week.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
