About the role
Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.
This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.
The Marketing Data Operations Team
Okta’s Marketing Data Operations team is in the engine room of our growth strategy. We serve as the critical bridge between technical data infrastructure and marketing execution. We partner closely with the Marketing and Data & Insights teams to deliver high-fidelity data across our web, automation, and CRM platforms, ensuring every marketing dollar is backed by actionable intelligence.
The Senior Data Analyst Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst who is a fully qualified professional with a passion for assessing complex data challenges and resolving them through creative, data-driven solutions. You will be successful if you are an expert in Marketing Analytics—meaning you understand web data deeply and can connect it to key business objects in Salesforce and Marketo. You are someone who thrives on "connecting the dots" between technical SQL logic and business strategy, and you are comfortable navigating the ambiguity of a fast-paced marketing environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Serve as the SME for Marketing Analytics: Take ownership of web data analysis, investigating performance across web platforms, marketing automation, and CRM to steer marketing strategy.
- Bridge the Technical Gap: Act as a primary partner to the Marketing and Data & Insights teams, translating complex SQL logic into business jargon and vice versa to ensure stakeholders of all technical levels are aligned.
- Architect Marketing Data Models: Leverage your complete knowledge of data modeling (ER diagrams) to build and maintain scalable datasets within Snowflake.
- Optimize the Funnel: Manage and manipulate key Salesforce objects—specifically Leads, Contacts, and Accounts—to provide a holistic view of the customer journey.
- Drive Process Innovation: Identify and implement process efficiencies and innovative reporting improvements that move beyond traditional descriptive dashboards.
- Solve Complex Problems: Devise solutions based on limited information; use evaluation and interpretation to select the right course of action for unusual data circumstances.
- Cultivate Inclusion: Foster an open and transparent team environment, leveraging diverse perspectives and backgrounds to drive collective success.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Education: BS in CS, MIS, Mathematics, Marketing Analytics, or a related technical degree.
- Experience: 5+ years of related experience as a Data Analyst (3+ years with a Master’s degree).
- Technical Expertise: Expert-level SQL proficiency and extensive experience working with Snowflake.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of Web Analytics and marketing systems including Marketo and Salesforce (Leads, Contacts, Accounts).
- Data Modeling: Strong foundation in data modeling principles and ER diagramming.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence senior partners and technical teams alike.
- Adaptability: Proven ability to react to change with flexibility and take ownership of results in ambiguous situations.
- Tools: Experience building reports and visualizations in Tableau or similar BI tools is a plus.
And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
- Experience with ABX (Account-Based Experience) platforms and data (e.g., 6sense, CommonRoom).
- Experience with Adobe Target data for personalization and optimization analysis.
- Background in data governance and data provenance frameworks.
- Experience in Dashboard development (Tableau and/or Looker Studio).
