Business Analytics Associate

JOB SUMMARY (Job Brief)
Under direct supervision, the Business Analytics Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the formulation of hypotheses, translation of data, design/measurement of experiments and generation of insights to inform business decisions by using various data mining techniques. The Business Analytics Associate uses data to perform basic diagnostic analyses and assists the team's diagnostic projects to provide answers to questions such as "Why did it happen?" and "What action can I take?". Through the use of reporting and execution of ad hoc requests by pulling data and creating basic analysis and the inspection and control of testing procedures, the Business Analytics Associate identifies trends and outliers. Success criteria include: timely and effective handling of data or analytics requests assigned by manager; providing input into basic business or analytical challenges faced by the team; developing communication skills, business acumen, and critical thinking; and establishing relationships with peers and broader team.

Essential Functions

• Pull basic data and provide reoccurring reporting and ad hoc requests

• Create simple analysis to support the production of insights into relevant business questions under general direction / supervision

• Develop basic visualizations and PowerPoint presentations

• Provide input with addressing basic business/analytical problems and challenges

• Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice

• Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Sciences, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics or equivalent work experience in analytics or similar industry experience(required)

Work Experience

• Minimum 1 year experience in demonstrating practical data application 

• 1 years experience in an analytics program or function (preferred) 

• Experience in banking/ financial services industry with a basic understanding of key drivers of financial results (preferred)

Skills

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, data visualization and data mining techniques

• Beginner-intermediate database querying skill

• Exposure to data integration

• Familiar with and capacity for analytical programming

• Developing written and verbal skills; beginning to develop ability to organize information in clear, consistent format; Capacity to develop ability to articulate a clear, well-thought-out message and formal delivery; Minimal skills in creating PowerPoint presentations

• Able to work independently under general direction / supervision

• Developing ability to build relationships, partner, and influence

• Developing basic understanding of business partner strategy; Building financial acumen

• Developing critical thinking skills; Can analyze simple issues with low complexity; Can give perspective to the team addressing basic business/analytical problems and challenges; Recognizes need to escalate issues in a timely manner

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $63,000.00 - $96,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
