The Nursing Supervisor provides leadership and support as the on-site administrative coverage for the hospital 24/7 by maintaining continuity for clinical, administrative, and human resource activities on all nursing units. Assists with patient placement in collaboration with the Admissions office and nursing units. Serves as an information resource to nursing staff and the hospital administrator on duty.

1. Manages human resource deployment across patient care services areas. Assesses the staffing/skills mix per shift; adjusts staffing as appropriate throughout the shift and for the oncoming shift.
2. Serves as a resource for patient placement. Manages patient admission profile to ensure appropriate unit placement.
3. Provides support and follow-up to patient care areas throughout the shift in regards to patient/family and/or staff needs.
4. Actively participates in the orientation of Nursing Supervisors and assists with the orientation of Resource Pool personnel.
5. Investigates and manages risk management, public relation, hospital safety and emergency situation. Reports as appropriate.
6. Provides feedback on staff performance. Notifies Nursing Directors of staff compliance with AC policies and procedures.
7. Collaborates with the hospital administrator on duty and/or the Nursing Director(s) with regards to reportable situations ie patients/families, physicians, staff, public relations, and safety/emergency situations with clinical impact.
8. Assists with other duties as necessary (such as assistance with transport arrangements, organ harvest/transplants, end-of-life procedures, coroner investigations, and issues with other hospital services).
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
