About the role
Job Summary
The HVAC Service Engineer is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at client sites. The role ensures system efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction through timely and high-quality service support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation & Commissioning
- Install, test, and commission HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, VRF/VRV, split and package units
- Ensure proper system setup as per design specifications
- Conduct performance testing and system validation
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of HVAC systems
- Diagnose faults in electrical, mechanical, and control components
- Repair or replace defective components and ensure optimal system performance
3. Customer Support
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers
- Respond promptly to service requests and complaints
- Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure satisfaction
4. System Performance Monitoring
- Monitor system efficiency and suggest improvements
- Ensure energy-efficient operation of HVAC systems
- Identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain service logs, reports, and maintenance records
- Prepare breakdown analysis reports and service documentation
- Submit daily/weekly/monthly reports to management
6. Spare Parts Management
- Identify and recommend spare parts requirements
- Coordinate with stores or vendors for parts availability
- Maintain tools and service equipment
7. Compliance & Safety
- Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards
- Adhere to quality and safety protocols during service operations
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / HVAC / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
- 2–6 years of relevant experience in HVAC service or maintenance
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and components
- Troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical faults
- Familiarity with HVAC controls, thermostats, and sensors
- Basic understanding of refrigeration cycles and thermodynamics
- Good communication and customer-handling skills
- Ability to work independently and manage field activities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with VRF/VRV systems, chillers, and BMS (Building Management Systems)
- Knowledge of energy efficiency practices
- Certification in HVAC or related safety training
