Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Crew Chief – Product Trainer or Principal Product Trainer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL for the Product Support Group. Operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has no opportunity for remote or telework.

*This position may be filled by either a Product Trainer (Level 2) or a Principal Product Trainer (Level 3) based on the qualifications listed. **

A successful candidate needs to be experienced as a Refuel/Bomber Aircraft Maintenance Specialty (2A5X4) Crew Chief. The candidate needs to also have experience in Instructional Systems Development (ISD) framework for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating (ADDIE) learning systems. Using their Crew Chief expertise, they select appropriate instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstration-performance, problem-based learning, student-centered learning, and guided discussion. Support, build, and promote a positive and collaborative culture across all teams. Develop and maintain expert level knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as strong organizational skills and an ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop training curriculum, study outlines, and orientation material for general aircraft systems, subsystems, components, and associated test equipment

  • Support the development of criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities.

  • Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and maintain updated technical information.

  • Provide input to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date

  • Demonstrate and use effective training analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills

  • Develop instruction materials – self-paced guides, case studies, job aids, evaluations; scenario-based course outlines

  • Develop training materials – classroom materials, instructor guides, student manuals, workbooks, related materials; curricula to support program implementation across target audiences

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify specific training needs and develop solutions for satisfying unique skills-based training requirements

  • Create and analyze assessments to evaluate learning effectiveness and instructional improvement opportunities – e.g., pre-tests, post-tests, and quizzes

  • Use ISD current Learning Theory to solve complex learning and performance problems

Basic Qualifications for a Product Trainer (Level 2)

  • Bachelor's degree 2 years of relevant experience with or Master's degree

  • Experience as a bomber crew chief

  • Intermediate proficiency level of Aircraft Serviceability sub-competency

    • Completes advanced maintenance tasks

    • Perform operations checks with technical guidance

    • Leads teams in performing maintenance actions and operations checks

    • Ensures members are exposed to OJT opportunities

  • Intermediate proficiency level of Servicing sub-competency

    • Leads team to complete servicing tasks

    • Validates quantities to ensure accurate aircraft serviceability

    • Identifies improvements to increase efficiency while performing servicing tasks

  • Experience in courseware development, instruction, or industry training content development

  • Must have an active, in scope government Secret Security Clearance or higher that was granted within the last 6 years

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Product Trainer (Level 3)

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience

  • Experience as a bomber crew chief

  • Intermediate proficiency level of Aircraft Serviceability sub-competency

    • Completes advanced maintenance tasks

    • Perform operations checks with technical guidance

    • Leads teams in performing maintenance actions and operations checks

    • Ensures members are exposed to OJT opportunities

  • Intermediate proficiency level of Servicing sub-competency

    • Leads team to complete servicing tasks

    • Validates quantities to ensure accurate aircraft serviceability

    • Identifies improvements to increase efficiency while performing servicing tasks

  • Experience in courseware development, instruction, or industry training content development

  • Must have an active, in scope government Secret Security Clearance or higher that was granted within the last 6 years

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program Access (PAR/SAP)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in education, Instructional Design, or similar field.

  • 3 or more years of formal classroom instruction and courseware development. (Considerations will be given for diverse development experience)

  • Expert Proficiency Level on Maintenance Operation Competency

    • Track and manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance

    • Collaborate with other agencies to ensure maintenance scheduling

    • Oversee all aspects of maintenance operations

    • Interprets fleet health data to identify areas from improvement

    • Coordinates with base agencies to complete maintenance tasks

  • Experience in task analysis procedures and training systems products

  • Basic understanding of Agile process (Scaled Agile Framework)

  • Design and development of curriculum for advanced technologies

  • Experience using courseware development tools – LCMS and LMS

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

  • Working knowledge of customer compliance documents, government instructions and government standards

Primary Level Salary Range: $59,600.00 - $89,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
