Job Summary
We are seeking a senior Liquidity Risk professional to join its Corporate Liquidity Risk Management team in Bangalore/Pune.
This is a second line of defense role, responsible for independent oversight, challenge, and monitoring of the firm’s liquidity risk profile, regulatory compliance, and risk governance framework.
This is an individual contributor role with senior stakeholder management. The role offers high visibility, frequent interaction with Treasury (1LoD), senior risk leadership, and global stakeholders, and exposure to key regulatory liquidity metrics and governance forums.
Roles and Responsibilities
Own the development and maintenance of the Liquidity Risk Policy, Standards and associated governance documentation, ensuring full compliance based on Northern’s governance framework
Present and contribute to key governance committee Market and Liquidity Risk Committee, Data and Governance committee
Support enhancement of liquidity risk measurement methodologies and models underpinning key liquidity metrics, deposit, stress testing, risk appetite measures etc. Ensure models/methodologies remain robust, data-driven and aligned to evolving regulatory standards and internal risk appetite, while providing analytical support to validate and refine assumptions/methodologies.
Support ongoing challenge and change management of Liquidity risk models
Assessing compliance with regulatory requirements and common industry practices applicable to liquidity management
Engage with audit and associated remediation efforts in collaborating with multiple teams.
Working closely with more junior members that will assist with independent analysis
Recommending and advising on areas of enhancements, and informing risk oversight committees of mitigation steps
Manage risk by recommending and advising on key risks, associated controls and framework for monitoring and containing the risk.
Knowledge / Experience Required:
9+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas of financial services is desired: treasury, risk management, compliance or regulatory oversight, consulting, or financial reporting with working experience on liquidity risk management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated success challenging the status quo, influencing outcomes, and consensus building. Experience presenting key risks to senior management.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, critical thinking, investigative problem-solving and demonstrated resilience to take unpopular viewpoints as warranted
Understanding of liquidity regulations and applying these expectations to practice (e.g. Enhanced Prudential Standards, LCR, NSFR, 2052a, SR 10-6, SR 12-7 and others)
Strong knowledge of financial services is expected, including understanding of balance sheets and custody business and implications to potential liquidity exposures is a plus
Familiarity with treasury instruments, funding and investment activities, and cash and settlement practices are a plus
Experience with analytics within Excel, Python, Power BI, PowerApps, AI or other tools is a plus
Industry Certification (CFA/FRM) is preferred
Shift coverage: EMEA - 1:30PM to 10:30PM IST
Internal Eligibility Criteria:
24 months as Consultant for vertical movement to Senior Consultant
12 months as Senior Consultant for lateral movement.
