The Relationship Manager Private Banking (RM) is the primary point of contact between the client and the Bank. He/she acts externally as an ambassador for the Bank and is responsible for the proactive and autonomous management of a portfolio of High Net Worth and/or Ultra High Net Worth private clients. This entails the delivery of comprehensive wealth management solutions to meet the clients’ needs as well as dealing with routine enquiries and transactions. Acquisition of new client relationships through his/her network is an integral element of the role. He/she acts as role model and contributes to the onboarding of new and development of junior team members. The RM is an essential part of the first line of defence. He/she identifies and manages risks and where necessary raises concerns and escalates issues in a timely manner to Front Management and/or second line of defence. The RM understands the Bank’s risk capabilities and appetite, and adheres to compliance standards, local regulations, and internal standards at all times.YOUR CHALLENGE
CLIENT EXPERIENCE
The RM serves clients with highest quality standards, representing Julius Baer’s prestigious market position as a pure play wealth manager:
- Responds to all client needs in a timely and professional manner
- Ensures consistently high levels of client satisfaction by matching the frequency and intensity of contact to the clients preference
- Provides appropriate investment advice in line with the Bank’s policies and asset allocation
- Is responsible to proactively deliver clients’ feedback regarding products and services to the relevant specialists within the Bank in order to ensure continuous improvement and adaptation in line with market trends
- Participates in the development and implementation of client initiatives and new marketing strategies, and supports ad hoc projects as required by the Management (Team Heads and/or others)
ROSPECT & CLIENT MANAGEMENT
The RM is responsible for the proactive development and maintenance of a portfolio of High Net Worth and/or Ultra High Net Worth clients:
- Applies a collaborative team approach, including the appropriate use of specialists, to proactively develop and deliver comprehensive wealth management solutions to the clients
- Continuously deepens client relationships and optimises revenues through acquisition of new clients and additional share of wallet /cross-selling
- Proactively manages client at risks and develops succession strategy to mitigate attrition risks and generational transfer losses
- Embraces new processes and product initiatives, and diligently uses available tools in daily business
The RM is responsible for handling daily business risks and is an integral part of the first line of defence. The RM ensures a strong culture of compliance, ethical behaviours and sound risk management practices, incl.:
- Implements and achieves an appropriate “First Time Right” culture, incl. high KYC quality, positive control results and high-quality documentation of CCN via the 5Ws
- Ensures the timely clearance of pending items, alerts, notifications, trainings and/or conditions, leading to none or limited number of overdue items
- Learns and remains familiar with risk topics/appetite, applicable policies and necessary documentation standards, reviews and addresses detected deficiencies
- Identifies, evaluates risks in taking decisions and ponders future outcomes in light of the applicable risk appetite, takes full ownership and provide mitigation measures
- Raises concerns, follows up on issues and escalates issues in a timely manner to Front Team Heads / Front Management or second line of defence
- Fosters collaborative and proactive exchanges with the relevant risk, compliance and legal functions
- Ensures adherence to rules & policies and the “principles of good conduct”

- Familiar with the legal & regulatory environment
- Sound commercial judgement and knowledge of global financial markets
- Ability to match client needs with appropriate product solutions
- Willingness to travel
- Relevant regulatory licences from HKMA/SFC
- Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) certification preferred
MRC IN-SCOPE POSITION
This is an in-scope position under the Mandatory Reference Checking Scheme (MRC Scheme) whereby applicants will be required to undergo reference checks from previous/and or current employers (Authorized Institutions) covering the past seven years.
MRC Scheme is a standardized reference-checking arrangement that is designed to support the integrity of “authorized institutions” regulated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). At a high level, the MRC Scheme requires an In-Scope Institution intending to hire an individual for certain relevant positions to conduct a mandatory reference check on that individual, by requesting information about them from each relevant former and current employer.
