The Director, Patient Access will work on-site at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, New England Baptist Hospital and Mt. Auburn Hospital and participate in revenue cycle transformation initiatives.

The Director of Patient Access Services reports to the Vice President, Patient Access. This position is responsible for daily oversight, management, and direction of transaction and process-based revenue cycle functions within Patient Access, including Registration, Appointment Scheduling, in the ED, Admissions, and Outpatient areas. The position closely coordinates and integrates with hospital and clinic departments, Financial Clearance, Financial Counseling, and other Revenue Cycle partners.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Ensures department outcomes meet and/or exceed industry standards for front-end cash collection, patient pre-registration and registration, admissions, eligibility verification, coordination of benefits, productivity, and compliance.
  • ·Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating employees consistent with Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) System Services HR policies.
  • Responsible for monitoring staff productivity, accuracy, and quality.
  • Reviews department structure for optimal design, and recommends short-term and strategic enhancements.
  • Coordinates with the Vice President on departmental capital and salary budgets, monitors and controls salaries and expenses to minimize variances.
  • Maintains the highest possible level of data accuracy throughout the continuum of registration/admissions activities and related information system utilization. Offers refresher training modules as needed.
  • Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 7 Indirect Reports: Varies ·
  • Coordinates with the Vice President on responsibility for planning, monitoring, and managing department budget.
  • Participates in the design, development, and implementation of new EMR functionality

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in business, health administration, or other relevant field preferred.

Licensure, Certification & Registration: N/A

Experience: · 5-8 years related work experience required and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience required · Extensive background in Patient Access Management may be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement. · Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.

Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to position. · Experience with Meditech preferred.

Pay Range:

$110,011.20 USD - $155,001.60 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
