As a Senior Accounting & Reporting Associate – General Ledger supporting Alcon’s Finance, Accounting & Audit function, you will be trusted to support General Ledger Accounting, Reporting, and Systems activities at Mexico City, Mexico, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial processes. In this role, you will help secure company assets by applying strong controls to financial transactions, providing accurate financial information, and ensuring timely reporting aligned with local, regional, and global requirements.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Performing general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial transaction postings.
  • Ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, properly supported, and compliant with accounting standards, internal policies, statutory accounting requirements, and control frameworks.
  • Supporting month-end and period-end close activities, including analysis of account balances, variance explanations, reporting deliverables, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Partnering with stakeholders across Financial Reporting and Accounting, Group functions, and regional teams to accomplish local, global, and regional reporting requirements.
  • Supporting audit requests, statutory accounting activities, systems/reporting needs, and continuous improvement initiatives by providing accurate financial data, identifying process gaps, and strengthening R2R controls and documentation.
     

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in Record to Report, General Ledger, Accounting & Reporting, or similar finance/accounting roles.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, financial reporting, and statutory accounting activities.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze financial data with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, shared-services or multinational environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across local, regional, and global teams.
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
