A Day in the Life
GAMA Lead – Philippines
We are looking for an experienced GAMA Lead to support our Philippines business. This role plays a critical part in driving patient access by shaping health policy, strengthening government engagement, and expanding reimbursement opportunities for our key portfolios in Cardiovascular (CVG) and Neurosciences, including Stroke Care.
Our goal is to bring in a strong GAMA Lead who can work closely with government stakeholders (DOH, PhilHealth), Operating Unit Heads, and Medical Societies to help expand access to life‑saving therapies and procedures. This role will directly contribute to improving patient outcomes by enabling government subsidy and coverage for priority procedures such as STEMI (ST‑Elevation Myocardial Infarction) treatment.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
I. Government Affairs & Policy Leadership
The GAMA Lead is responsible for shaping the policy environment to support business objectives and patient access goals in the Philippines.
Develop and execute advocacy strategies to influence health policies, regulatory changes, and government decisions relevant to the company’s business and portfolio.
Establish, maintain, and strengthen effective working relationships with key stakeholders including Department of Health (DOH), PhilHealth, relevant government agencies, industry associations, and medical societies.
Monitor the political, legislative, and regulatory landscape to identify risks and opportunities, and provide strategic advice to senior leadership.
Represent the company in external forums, government‑led discussions, working groups, and industry meetings, positioning the organization as a trusted healthcare partner.
II. Market Access & Reimbursement Strategy
Develop and implement integrated market access strategies covering reimbursement, pricing, and evidence generation to support sustainable patient access.
Build and communicate strong clinical and economic value propositions for the company’s medical technologies.
Lead pricing and negotiation discussions with reimbursement authorities and relevant stakeholders to secure and optimize coverage and payment mechanisms.
Oversee the preparation and submission of reimbursement dossiers and other market access documentation.
Engage with payers and reimbursement influencers to ensure fair and sustainable access decisions aligned with clinical value.
III. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Business Alignment
Work closely with Operating Unit Heads and Commercial Teams to align GAMA strategies with business priorities and focus products.
Collaborate with HEOR, Medical, Regulatory, and Marketing teams to leverage evidence (e.g. cost‑effectiveness, budget impact analyses) in reimbursement and policy discussions.
Provide timely updates and guidance to internal stakeholders on policy, reimbursement, and access‑related developments.
Partner with regional and global GAMA/HEOR teams to identify best practices and apply relevant insights locally.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
7–10 years of progressive experience in Government Affairs, Market Access, Public Policy, or Health Economics within the healthcare industry (medical device or pharmaceutical experience strongly preferred).
Strong understanding of the Philippines healthcare system, including government structures, policy‑making processes, and reimbursement pathways.
Proven track record in developing and implementing reimbursement or coverage strategies that support product access.
Ability to effectively engage, communicate, and influence senior stakeholders, including government officials, payers, and healthcare leaders.
Experience supporting or leading HTA‑related submissions and the use of economic evidence is an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Public Health, Health Policy, Healthcare Administration, Health Economics, Law, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional, matrix environment.
