The Senior Manager, Data Partnerships is accountable for enterprise‑wide management of externally sourced market and investment data, ensuring IMCO has cost‑effective, compliant, and value‑driven access to data required for investment decision‑making, analytics, and AI.
Reporting to the Director, Data Enablement, the role serves as IMCO’s single point of accountability for market data vendors and works in close partnership with Finance, Legal, Procurement, Risk, and Technology.
As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible For:
- Own IMCO’s market data partnerships and vendor strategy, acting as the primary relationship owner for key data providers and index/exchange relationships.
- Lead commercial governance, including negotiations, renewals, RFPs, and contract management, ensuring optimal pricing and licensing terms. Establish and lead ongoing vendor engagement forums.
- Partner with Finance on market data budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost optimization, providing transparent spend and value insights.
- Ensure compliance and risk management related to data licensing, contractual obligations, audits, and appropriate use in analytics and AI.
- Enable the business through clear processes for sourcing, onboarding, and managing externally sourced data across IMCO. Establish and lead ongoing business engagement forums related to market data, usage, expenses and issue management.
- Provide executive‑level reporting and insights on market data spend, vendor concentration, risk exposure, value realization and use cases being implemented.
- Shape and enforce a consistent operating model for market data across IMCO to reduce fragmentation and improve governance.
What do you need to succeed?
- 8 to 10+ years of experience working in market data procurement, vendor management, or data partnerships within financial services, asset management, or investment organizations.
- Proven experience negotiating commercial contracts, licensing agreements, and renewals with market data vendors.
- Demonstrated experience working closely with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost governance.
- Strong understanding of capital markets and investment data, including public markets, derivatives, and private markets with experience in engaging and supporting investment and operational professionals.
- Experience with major market data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, index providers, exchanges) is strongly preferred
- Post Secondary or bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Technology, or a related discipline.
- Professional designations or training in financial markets (e.g., CFA, FRM, Canadian Securities) are an asset.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, value, and risk.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence investment, finance, technology, and control functions.
- Ability to translate complex market data concepts into clear business and financial insights for senior leaders.
- High attention to detail, strong governance mindset, and comfort operating in regulated environments
