About the role

European Depositary Bank SA ("EDB") is part of the Apex Group. As an independent provider free from institutional influences we can deliver an agile and responsive cross-jurisdictional service in an ever-changing regulatory environment.

Our powerful global infrastructure and breadth of technical experience enables us to provide market leading solutions tailored to benefit our clients.

Our vision is to be the leading provider of Banking, Depositary and Custody services to Asset Managers, Family Offices, Institutional Investors and Corporates.

Our company was founded in 1973 in Luxembourg. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Hamburg-based private bank M.M.Warburg & CO (AG & CO) KGaA, we made it possible for institutional investors to directly access the Luxembourg financial market. This makes us one of the most experienced depositaries for traditional and alternative investment structures in the Grand Duchy. In 2017 the bank was acquired by the Apex Group and renamed to the European Depositary Bank (EDB) in 2019.

We currently hold fund and securitisation structures with a total value of $260 billion. This is mainly allocated to alternative investments, including real estate, private equity, private debt and renewable energies & infrastructure (as of March 31, 2024).

For the avoidance of doubt we do not deal with retail clients. We neither offer any securities (bonds, shares, notes etc.) nor do we act on behalf of any other financial institution to offer such securities to any clients.

Are you ready to make an impact in a dynamic, international environment? EDB, part of the APEX Group, is expanding its Onboarding & Account Management team and is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive professional to help us deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, assess, and review AML/KYC documentation for the onboarding, opening, and ongoing maintenance of digital bank accounts for APEX Group clients, ensuring completeness, consistency, and accuracy.

  • Act as both first- and second-line reviewer to validate client due diligence files, perform risk-based assessments, and authorize account openings, amendments, and periodic reviews in line with internal policies.

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable AML/KYC regulatory frameworks, including CRS, FATCA, QI, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., CSSF), proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks.

  • Perform detailed analysis of complex ownership structures, identify Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs), controlling persons, and assess risk classifications in accordance with regulatory definitions and internal guidelines.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (Compliance, Legal, Account Management, Payments, Digital Banking) and external clients to resolve KYC queries, clarify regulatory requirements, and facilitate timely onboarding.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client master data across internal systems (e.g., onboarding tools and core banking platforms), ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.

  • Support audits and regulatory inspections by providing required documentation, audit trails, and justifications for risk assessments and onboarding decisions.

  • Contribute to process improvements, digital onboarding enhancements, and system migrations by providing subject matter expertise and practical feedback.

  • Assist in drafting and updating internal procedures, guidelines, and checklists in line with evolving regulatory expectations and business needs.

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members, ensuring consistency in AML/KYC standards and fostering a strong compliance culture.

  • Support additional tasks and ad hoc projects as required, adapting to evolving business priorities and regulatory developments.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • Several years of hands-on experience in a similar role.

  • Strong expertise in AML/KYC and tax regulations (FATCA, QI, CRS), with a solid understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks for corporate entities, funds, and international institutions.

  • Proficiency in fund and banking systems, along with advanced MS Office skills.

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and/or German is essential; additional languages are a plus.
