JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform device interrogations (in office and remote) and apply programming changes in accordance with established protocols and provider orders. 

  • Analyze device functions, including parameters, sensing/capture thresholds, lead integrity, and battery status.  

  • Identify and escalate abnormal findings, arrhythmia episodes, and device or lead malfunctions to supervising providers. 

  • Conduct postimplant evaluations, including patient education, wound-care instruction, and staple/suture removal under supervision. 

  • Review interrogations completed by industry representatives and ensure accuracy and compliance with clinic standards. 

  • Interpret stored and real-time intracardiac electrograms; identify dysrhythmia and evaluate appropriate/inappropriate device therapy. 

  • Serve as a patient educator and resource regarding device care, follow-up requirements, and remote monitoring processes. 

  • Triage patient calls directed to the device clinic. 

  • Assist in developing and maintaining algorithm-driven programming protocols and device recall management processes. 

  • Schedule patients for follow-up appointments in alignment with Medicare and device clinic guidelines. 

  • Maintain device clinic supplies and equipment. 

  • Support orientation and training of new staff members. 

  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.  

  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.  

  • Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external 

  • Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety. 

  • Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes, and practices. 

  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.  

  • Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.

  • Other related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit for up to 7 hours per day during transmission review (2–3 hours consecutively). Ability to stand or walk for up to 7 hours per day, with intervals of standing (15 minutes) and walking (up to 2 hours). Frequent lifting of supplies up to 20 lbs.; pushing programmers approximately 50 lbs. Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, twisting, and overhead reaching. Adequate hearing and vision for patient care, data review, and device evaluation. 

EDUCATION: 

High School Graduate.  1-2 years of healthcare experience preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 

Pacemaker, Tachycardia, Bradycardia, and Device Interpretation training (preferred).  Basic EKG training (preferred).
