The Nakahira Research Group in Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Electrical and Computer Engineering studies the foundations and applications of safe and intelligent autonomous systems operating under uncertainty, limited information, strategic human behavior, and complex multi-agent interactions. The postdoc will work at the intersection of control theory, reinforcement learning, probabilistic modeling, and language-guided autonomy. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research aligned with the themes above
  • Mentor PhD and MS students
  • Lead and co-author publications
  • Optionally participate in workshop organization or broader impacts activities
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
