This role is part of Alcon's Research & Development function, a team that innovates boldly and delivers new products and services to help revolutionize the eye care industry, advance optimal patient outcomes and help people see brilliantly. The Associate Director, Medical Affairs is primarily responsible for driving the medical strategy for surgical product development in Ophthalmology, focusing on strategy development, management, and implementation for Phase IIIB/IV studies. You will build relationships with global development teams, marketing, sales, and healthcare providers to meet diverse needs.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Support the execution of comprehensive Medical Affairs strategic plans
Support development of regional medical affairs strategy for the assigned therapeutic area
Provide medical and scientific support for product messaging and claims development
Support post market/phase IV studies strategy and preregistration study strategic input
Support launch strategies, lifecycle management and expansion of indications
for use
Support medical publications: Develop content for whitepapers, peer-reviewed
manuscripts, posters, scientific articles and video scripts
Support customer medical inquires (i.e. medical exchange of information with
KOLs, and management of medical issues raised by customer HealthCare
providers)
Maintain peer to peer relationships with Medical Experts/ Key stakeholders and members of the scientific community, utilizing scientific and medical evidence based non-promotional materials
Support planning and execution of medical advisory board meetings
Provide fairbalanced scientific and educational information to healthcare professionals on specific medical issues
Support internal training, and as needed for academic or healthcare professionals
Medical promotional review support as needed
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high
school+15 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
Advanced clinical degree (OD preferred; MD ophthalmologist preferred) in combination strong clinical research experience. Minimum: technical/scientific degree (i.e.MS/PhD) in the life sciences with solid knowledge in assigned ophthalmic therapeutic area.
7 Years of Relevant Experience
The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
Estimated travel requirements - 10%
The location of the position is flexible within Europe.
