Description of Work
The Director of OT/PT is a high-level clinical leadership role responsible for the administration and supervision of the Occupational and Physical Therapy departments. This position serves as the facility’s clinical subject matter expert overseeing therapy operations, personnel management, and interdisciplinary safety initiatives.The incumbent serves on the team for the IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative) and also provides administrative leadership for Occupational Therapy (OT), Adaptive Equipment (AE), and Physical Therapy (PT) clinics, including strategic planning, budget and resource management, personnel supervision, policy development, and regulatory compliance. Serves as the clinical–technical liaison for the Epic EHR System, optimizing documentation workflows, leading system testing, and supporting clinicians with implementation and troubleshooting. Leads interdisciplinary safety initiatives such as the IDDSI program while maintaining a limited clinical caseload and directing the OT/PT student program to support clinical education and university partnerships.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Demonstrates mastery of OT/PT clinical principles and U.S. federal and state regulatory standards for an Intermediate Care Facility with with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) settings.
Brings expertise in clinical workflow analysis, system troubleshooting, and technical training for clinical staff. Possesses strong knowledge of the IDDSI framework and Epic EHR systems.
Applies advanced skills in budget management, personnel supervision, and conflict resolution.
Effectively leads in high-complexity, constantly changing environments while building consensus across diverse medical and administrative departments.
Management Preferences: The candidate must demonstrate a strong history of interdisciplinary safety governance, consensus building, and effective collaboration with Nursing, Residential, Dietary, and SLP to implement high-integrity clinical protocols across campus. Prefers a minimum of five years of clinical experience, prior supervisory or leadership experience in a state-operated facility, and experience serving as an Epic Super User.
This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)
This position is classified as a Mandatory Employee under Professional Services. The Director of OT/PT is required to report to work and to remain at work during adverse weather events.

Work Schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday

Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of North Carolina and three years of experience as an occupational therapist.
