Summary

Apple is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Engineering Project Manager (EPM) / Program Manager to drive the execution of critical data and regulatory compliance initiatives in Greater China. Reporting to the Director of Regulatory Management, you will be the operational engine behind our Cross Border Data Transfer (CBDT) filings and data security programs. You will work at the intersection of Engineering, Privacy, Legal, and Government Affairs, translating complex technical data flows into structured project plans and actionable deliverables. If you excel at bringing order to ambiguity and driving cross-functional alignment in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you.

Description

CBDT Program Execution: Manage the day-to-day project lifecycle for Cross Border Data Transfer (CBDT) security assessments and standard contract filings. Build and maintain detailed project schedules, track milestones, and ensure timely delivery of technical and legal documentation. Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the central operational hub between global Engineering, Privacy, Legal, and regional Government Affairs (GA) teams. Facilitate working sessions to map technical data flows, cloud architectures, and system integrations required for regulatory submissions. AI Regulatory Support: Project manage the preparation and submission processes for Apple Intelligence regulatory requirements, including algorithm filings and generative AI safety assessments under the guidance of the Director. Reporting & Executive Support: Develop and maintain program dashboards, status reports, and risk trackers. Assist in preparing presentation materials and synthesizing project updates for the Greater China Business Council and Cupertino executive reviews. Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in the regulatory data-gathering and filing process. Design and implement streamlined workflows to improve the efficiency of how engineering and legal teams collaborate on compliance deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of experience in Engineering Project Management, Technical Program Management, or Compliance Operations within the technology sector. Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-threaded projects from inception to completion. Strong capability to lead without authority, drive cross-functional alignment, and hold diverse teams accountable to strict deadlines. Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Ability to track hundreds of technical data points and documentation requirements without dropping the ball. Language: Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) is mandatory, with the ability to accurately translate complex technical concepts between both languages. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Legal Operations, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Domain Familiarity: Working knowledge of data privacy and cybersecurity principles. Familiarity with China’s regulatory landscape (PIPL, DSL, CSL) and CBDT mechanisms is a significant plus. Technical Aptitude: Strong technical foundation with the ability to understand cloud infrastructure, data mapping, encryption standards, and software development lifecycles. Regulatory Operations: Prior experience project managing government filings, regulatory audits, or compliance certifications (e.g., ISO, SOC, or local Chinese standards) in partnership with Legal or Government Affairs teams. AI/ML Exposure: Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models (LLMs) to effectively support Apple Intelligence filing projects. Certifications: PMP, Agile/Scrum certification, or privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPT).
