Job Description

Seeking an Assistant Property Manager supports the daily operations of residential or commercial property, ensuring smooth management, excellent tenant relations, and efficient administrative processes. This role works closely with the Property Manager to maintain high occupancy, financial accuracy, and a well‑kept property environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Tenant Relations

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for residents or tenants
  • Respond to inquiries, complaints, and service requests
  • Assist with move‑ins, move‑outs, and property tours
  • Maintain positive tenant relationships to support retention

Leasing & Marketing

  • Show available units and explain leasing terms
  • Process rental applications and conduct background checks
  • Prepare and execute lease agreements
  • Assist with marketing efforts and listing updates

Operations & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records, files, and reports
  • Assist with rent collection and deposit processing
  • Track delinquencies and send notices when needed
  • Support budgeting, invoicing, and vendor coordination

Maintenance Coordination

  • Receive and log maintenance requests
  • Schedule repairs with vendors or maintenance staff
  • Follow up to ensure timely completion
  • Participate in property inspections

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal housing regulations
  • Support enforcement of community rules and policies
  • Assist with safety protocols and emergency procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Organizational and multitasking ability
  • Basic understanding of property management or real estate
  • Proficiency with property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, Buildium)
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally
  • High attention to detail

Preferred Experience

  • 1–3 years in property management, leasing, or customer service
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing laws
  • Experience with bookkeeping or rent collection systems
