Job Summary
Under limited supervision perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements.Job Description
Building Maintenance Technician A:
What You'll Do:
- Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.
- Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.
- Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities.
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.
- Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.
- Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner.
- Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required..
What We're Looking For:
Education requirements are listed below:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers' license.
- This job requires "recommended" test results from HireVue Building Tech and Other Technician-Related Roles Virtual Job Tryout.
- This assessment is completed online, is untimed, and typically takes about 45 minutes to complete.

Other Requirements:
- Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred. Must be willing to pursue the certification.
- PSO Building Maint Techs: City of Tulsa 1st Class Engineer licenses preferred. Must be willing to pursue the licenses.
- Overtime required.
- Overnight travel may be required.
- In addition, scheduled as well as unscheduled, weekend and evening shift work may be required.
- Will be expected to respond to emergency call out work.
- Requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather.
- Possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, review, revise, and correct blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications and instructions related to the assigned work .
- Requires the ability to utilize a computer.
- Constant standing; frequent walking; occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, squatting, kneeling.
- This position requires lifting, moving and carrying equipment up to and in excess of 50 lbs.
Drive Time Requirement:
Successful candidate must live or be willing to relocate within 30 mins of the Athens Ofc & Service Center (9135 St. Rt. 682 Athens, Ohio 45701) OR the Pomeroy Service Center (38831 State Route 7 Pomeroy, Ohio 45772)
