Intern - Communications
Confirmed live in the last 24 hours
OpenX
Compensation
$20 - $20/per-hour-wage
Job Description
OpenX is looking for a Communications Intern who is equal parts storyteller, researcher, and detail-obsessive. This is not a passive role — you’ll be plugged into the rhythm of our business, helping shape how we talk about who we are, what we’re building, and why it matters.
If you’re someone who notices headlines others miss, rewrites sentences in your head for fun, and asks “why does this matter?” as a reflex, you’ll do well here.
What You’ll Do
Write, Edit, Repeat
Draft and refine content across press materials, internal comms, executive messaging, and more
Help turn ideas, data, and half-formed thoughts into clear, compelling narratives
Support thought leadership development from research to early drafts
Stay Ahead of the Story
Monitor media, competitors, and industry trends (and actually connect the dots)
Create smart, skimmable news digests that people want to read
Spot timely hooks (events, reports, industry news) where OpenX has a voice
Make the Comms Engine Run Smoothly
Keep media lists, trackers, and editorial calendars organized and up to date
Support research and prep for press outreach and storytelling opportunities
Help maintain a high bar for clarity, consistency, and quality across content
Work Across Teams
Collaborate with marketing, product, and leadership to gather inputs and shape messaging
Contribute to projects that actually ship
What You’ll Bring
A strong writing instinct (you know when something sounds off and how to fix it)
Sharp attention to detail (you catch the typo, the tone shift, the missing context)
Genuine curiosity about media, tech, and how companies tell their stories
Ability to take in a lot of information and quickly make it useful
Comfort working in Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets
Resourcefulness and curiosity
Bonus points if you:
Write outside of class (newsletter, blog, student media, etc.)
Have opinions about headlines, brand voice, or how companies show up publicly
Are curious about advertising, media, or the adtech ecosystem
What You’ll Get
Real experience contributing to communications at a global adtech company
A front-row seat to how storytelling, PR, and business strategy intersect
Work that actually gets published
Mentorship from a caring team
