About the role

Job Summary

The Senior Regulatory Accountant files reports and submits payments to federal and state agencies to ensure compliance with rules and regulations within the framework of Continental Resources, Inc.’s policies and procedures. This role provides support as required to other groups inside the company to ensure the overall success of our operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares reports for filing with state and federal agencies, accurately and timely.
  • Gathers information needed for regulatory filings and compliance.
  • Develops Excel spreadsheets for automation of regulatory processes.
  • Researches documents and stays current regarding regulatory requirements.
  • Actively engages and leads regulatory discussions.
  • Provides weekly updates to team members.
  • Reconciles all GL accounts assigned.
  • Maintains log of incoming/outgoing correspondence.
  • Responds timely to agency inquiries and requests.
  • Makes related general ledger entries to record/clear payments.
  • Helps prepare for and answer questions during audits.
  • Follows all internal audit/SOX controls established for revenue accounting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel,
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, taking initiative to accomplish goals in the most efficient way possible while meeting strict deadlines

  • Basic knowledge of oil and gas governmental regulations
  • Basic technical knowledge of all aspects of oil and gas operations
  • Experience filing reports with federal and state agencies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of related experience.
  • Experience with MS Excel.
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oil and gas accounting experience.
  • Prior revenue regulatory experience.
  • Working knowledge for SAP.
  • Proficient in MS Word.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
