Job Summary
The Senior Accountant IV - Retail Accounting, supports the financial close process, reporting, and analysis activities for Vistra’s Retail Brands, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accounting operations.Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls
- Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency
- Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices
- Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines
- Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions
- Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development
Role Specific Accountabilities:
- Leverages deep technical expertise of subject matter to support the entire Retail organization in performance of duties.
- Ensures the monthly close process for Vistra’s Retail Brands is timely, complete and accurate, in compliance with US GAAP and other reporting requirements.
- Assists in the preparation and analysis of results, including identification of key drivers of variances between actual results and plan, projection, and prior year.
- Prepares and/or reviews reconciliations, financial schedules, and variance analyses for retail revenue, bad debt expense, and related accruals.
- Collaborates across multiple organizations including Planning, Residential and Business Markets, Marketing
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
- Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required
Skills:
- Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems
- Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
- Process improvement oriented
- Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process
