We are currently seeking a Director for our North America region specializing in sustainability and decarbonization strategy to join our Sustainability Consulting practice. Our team’s priorities are:

What this job involves  

Project Delivery Leadership 

Leaders in the ESG Advisory Practice create and deliver strategy, advisory and program management engagements.  You will be responsible for managing project delivery teams comprised of Associate Project Managers through Senior Project Managers. You will be responsible for workplan development and adherence, deliverable visioning, client relationship management and delegation for effective and efficient project delivery.  You will be the primary point of contact for client stakeholders as well as JLL collaborators across our global firm.  You will collaborate with leadership to determine project resourcing needs, escalations, as well as ensuring quality control of client facing deliverables.  It will be your responsibility to “connect the dots” between client needs, team capabilities, sustainability subject matter expertise, real estate industry requirements and future revenue considerations. 

People Management & Development 

At JLL our number one priority is inspiring our people and developing their careers.  As a Director of ESG Advisory, you may be responsible for managing and developing direct reports whose delivery focus areas would include ESG strategy, advisory, program management, reporting and disclosure.  You may be responsible for resource allocation, high-level problem solving, regular feedback and coaching related to professional and technical capabilities.  We’ll expect you to act decisively and think big. Most importantly, you’ll be able to contribute to a diverse, supportive, and talented team. 

Solution Development / Client Engagement / Sales 

A Director of ESG Advisory will be responsible for effective solution development related to proposed scopes of work for potential clients.  Leveraging the vast catalog of capabilities from JLL’s global sustainability consulting platform, you will be responsible for engaging current and prospective clients in developing tailored strategy and advisory scopes which meet our client’s needs and our team’s current and developing capabilities.   

Internal & External Engagement 

You will be a primary point of contact for engaging internal and external stakeholders on ESG strategy, advisory and program management.  You will be responsible for coordinating engagement with internal JLL business units across account management, project management, brokerage and global sustainability.  You will also be a connection between the ESG Advisory Practice in North America and the Global Sustainability Consulting Platform to incorporate established best practices, tools, emerging capabilities and providing opportunities for the local market team to engage the broader platform.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications 

  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in real estate sustainability, decarbonization/energy efficiency, ESG strategy/consulting, ESG program management and/or ESG disclosure 

  • BA/BS degree in sustainability, engineering, real estate, business, or related field preferred 

  • Master’s degree in strategy, business, sustainability management or real estate a plus 

  • Minimum 2-4 years of people management experience preferred 

  • Exceptional capabilities related to Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 

  • Demonstrated experience in presentation delivery, business development, proposal/solution development, sales and client engagement preferred 

  • Experience with any of the following preferred: GRESB, CDP, GRI, TCFD, SASB 

  • Experience with any of the following a plus: ENERGY STAR, Building HVAC Systems, International Living Futures Institute, Net Zero Carbon, Passive House, Zero Waste 

  • Possess strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills 

  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • CEM, CEA, CxA , PE, LEED AP,  WELL AP and/or Fitwel Ambassador a plus
