Ready to help build a future-proof, automated factory in Ede?

As a Production Engineering Specialist, you play a key role in further innovating our production site in Ede, with a focus on machines, automation, and production processes. This role is a replacement position within a close-knit engineering team and offers plenty of opportunities to grow into independent project ownership.

💡 What will you do?

In this role, you work at the heart of the factory. You combine mechanical engineering, control systems, and process technology to improve and future-proof our production processes.

At times, you focus on engineering and concept development, while at other times you work hands-on in the factory on machines, installations, and process improvements.

Your work directly contributes to the performance, reliability, and innovation of ABB’s production in Ede.

🎯 Your responsibilities

Engineering & Automation

• Design and optimize automated production processes and machinery

• Apply mechanical engineering, control systems, and process technology in the factory

• Translate improvement ideas into technical concepts, specifications, and solutions

• Support troubleshooting, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives

Project Ownership

• Independently execute engineering and automation projects

• Gradually grow into project leadership in line with your development

• Coordinate with machine suppliers during specification, quotation, and implementation phases

• Prepare technical input for investment proposals together with your manager

Collaboration & Improvement

• Collaborate closely with production, engineering colleagues, and management

• Seamlessly switch between desk work and hands-on activities on the shop floor

• Bring structure to a dynamic environment and actively share knowledge within the team

👥 Your team

You will join a flexible and collaborative engineering team of four colleagues: three specialists and one manager. The culture is open and informal, with a high degree of flexibility — colleagues support each other and step in when needed.

The manager has a people-oriented leadership style, offering room for ownership, responsibility, and personal input.

✅ What you bring

• MBO level 4 in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  or a practically oriented HBO degree in a similar field

• 2–5 years of experience in a production or industrial environment

• Strong technical affinity, particularly in automation and control systems

• Hands-on, flexible, and strong communication skills with a proactive team mindset

• Structured, resilient, and effective in a dynamic factory environment

• Fluent in Dutch and comfortable in English (spoken and written)

• Leadership experience is not required — growth potential and motivation are key

🧭 Practical information

• Location: Ede (on-site in the factory)

• Working hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30

• Contract: 32–40 hours per week

• Remote work: Primarily on-site; occasional remote work possible in consultation

• Travel: Not applicable

• Relocation / visa sponsorship: Not applicable
