About the role

Enterprise Risk Strategy and Execution – Project Manager (AI, Data & Model Risk)

About the role
At Vanguard, our mission is to take a stand for all investors and give them the best chance for investment success. As a Project Manager within Enterprise Risk Management, you’ll play a meaningful role in how we responsibly govern and scale the use of artificial intelligence (AI), data, and models across the firm. Your work will help embed a strong risk mindset into how AI is designed, approved, and implemented—supporting Vanguard’s long-term, client-first approach.

This role sits at the center of cross‑functional collaboration, connecting Risk with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Security, Technology, and business teams to turn governance expectations into practical, repeatable ways of working.

What you’ll do

  • Support a cross‑functional AI Governance Council by helping embed risk considerations into the AI intake and approval process.

  • Coordinate execution across Enterprise Risk workstreams, including Model Risk, Data Risk, and AI Risk.

  • Drive implementation of governance outcomes aligned to Vanguard’s enterprise AI operating priorities.

  • Serve as a project management lead for building and delivering a multi‑year AI, Data, and Model Risk Management program.

  • Help develop and implement enterprise standards, risk methodologies, and risk appetite frameworks.

  • Partner with teams across the business to ensure appropriate controls, workflows, and reporting are in place for AI, data, and model risk.

  • Translate complex risk requirements into clear, actionable controls, well‑defined processes, and measurable outcomes.

  • Manage multiple initiatives at once while keeping stakeholders aligned and informed.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in project management, stakeholder engagement, or process improvement roles.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or other graduate degree is welcome but not required.

  • Experience working in investment‑related, global, or multi‑country environments is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.

  • Lean Management, Six Sigma and / or process mapping expertise preferred.

  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels.

  • Demonstrated experience developing strategic roadmaps and driving process improvements from design through execution.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and project reporting tools.

  • Ability to organize complex work, balance competing priorities, and adapt in a changing environment.
