Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Project Manager – HR & Payroll ERP to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico with hybrid flexibility; however, this position has been approved for work in a primarily remote capacity. This role is anticipated to be short-term (~6 months) with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day execution of HR and Payroll workstreams within a large ERP program.

  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans aligned to program milestones and governance standards.

  • Ensure adherence to scope, schedule, plan of record, and project controls expectations.

  • Coordinate across HR/Payroll SMEs, functional leads, IT teams, and vendors to drive deliverable completion and adoption readiness.

  • Identify, track, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies at the workstream level; escalate cross-functional impacts as needed.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for HR/Payroll workstreams, partnering with the Program Manager on broader program issues.

  • Drive resolution of operational and delivery issues while maintaining alignment across workstreams.

  • Maintain strong communication and coordination across business, IT, and external partners.

  • Operate with strong ownership, accountability, and ability to bring structure to ambiguity.

Requirements

  • Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 15+ years of relevant experience including 8+ years managing ERP-related workstreams

  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

  • Proven experience leading HR and Payroll workstreams in large-scale ERP implementations (SAP S/4HANA strongly preferred), with hands-on experience in payroll processing and HR data migration.

  • Strong understanding of HR/Payroll processes, compliance, and controls.

  • Experience operating within structured program governance environments alongside program and implementation teams.

  • Strong risk, issue, and dependency management experience.

  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).

Desired Skills

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA strongly preferred; experience transitioning from Oracle EBS to SAP S/4 HANA is a plus.

  • Experience working with system integrators and implementation planners on ERP programs.

  • Experience working in organizations with complex stakeholder environments (federal, regulated industries, or large enterprises).

  • Background in Agile or hybrid delivery models within ERP programs.

  • Experience working within a federal, research, or DOE national laboratory environment is a plus, but not required.

  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.

About the Site

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
