Job Description:
Seeking a part-time Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities pertaining to the cardiopulmonary system.
The individual will be responsible for but not limited to:
Reading prescription, arterial blood gases and reviewing patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy and medication / dosage levels; makes recommendations to physician to assure optimum outcomes as appropriate.
Inspecting, setting up, and operating devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, aerosol generators, etc. Operates equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, gas concentration, humidity and temperature are achieved and to administer medical gases / aerosol drugs to patients; observe equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy.
Performing special procedures such as EEG's, Sleep Studies, and other diagnostic procedures as assigned with proper training and competency.
Monitoring patient's physiological response to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, blood chemistry changes, etc.; evaluates changes in patient condition, makes recommendations to physician to improve patient care or in response to adverse reaction.
Other duties as assigned.
This position would be ideal for an individual who is empathetic, team-oriented, and receptive to changing technology.
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION: Graduate with an Associate's Degree in an approved respiratory program from an accredited college or university required (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
EXPERIENCE: 1 year related experience and/or training preferred.
CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current license to practice respiratory care (LRCP) from the State of Nebraska required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification preferred
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
