Essential Job Functions
- Analyze and underwrite technical risk exposures on new and renewal business
- Maintain an existing account renewal book
- Travel to and conduct client and broker meetings on all major renewals
- Develop new business account production.
- Travel to and complete marketing/sales meeting in assigned territories within the Midwest Region
- Ensure underwriting and service standards are met on assigned accounts
- Develop insurance proposals, prepare policies and endorsements, obtain Home Office underwriting approvals where needed.
- Detailed Risk Assessment.
- Experience in shared and layered accounts- expertise in underwriting complex risks including Foreign fronts.
- Broker relationship management. Experience in building and managing relationships with key brokers.
- Purchase reinsurance (only with approval) when needed, review reinsurance certificates and complete reinsurance documentation
- Arrange account engineering service
Requirements
- College degree
- 3-5 years Property underwriting experience involving heavy industrial/technical risks including oil, petrochemical, chemical, steel and power generation
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Strong math skills
- Negotiation skills. Ability to negotiate complex terms and pricing with brokers.
- Good organization and effective time management -ability to meet deadlines for new business quotes and renewals.
- Self-motivated and independent work traits
