Job Summary

PHYSICIAN-SCIENTIST POSITION
AT MCLEAN HOSPITAL


McLean Hospital, America’s top-ranked freestanding psychiatric hospital, is inviting applications for a Physician-Scientist in our Neurotherapeutics Program.

McLean Hospital has an opportunity for a full-time Psychiatrist to work with the team in the Psychiatric Neurotherapeutics Program (ECT/TMS/Ketamine Services). This opening will be an opportunity to work with our experienced clinical teams on our Belmont campus. Education and training about ECT, TMS and Ketamine/Esketamine will be provided, and while preferred, no experience is necessary. Working with an experienced team of ECT/TMS/Ketamine providers, nurses, and mental health specialists, the candidate will provide consultations, assessment, diagnosis, and prescribe/perform treatment for inpatients and outpatients. Specific duties include 50% clinical duties providing consultation to inpatient treatment teams for their patients contemplating ECT, TMS, and/or Ketamine/Esketamine, providing consultation for outpatients seeking treatment, assessing and initiating treatment and monitoring patients receiving treatment, assessing patients for discharge criteria and planning for follow up treatment. The research duties will include 50% effort on NIMH and DARPA grants. Responsibilities include leadership and mentorship within McLean TMS clinic and the Brain Stimulation Mechanisms Laboratory. In this leadership role, you will be expected to provide oversight, ensure coverage for patient-related research activities (e.g., consults, informed consent, assessments), contribute scientific input and expertise in group and individual meetings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of psychiatric patients including those with treatment-resistant depression. The candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching and mentoring of trainees and staff.


 

Qualifications

This position combines clinical care, investigation, and teaching, with a Harvard Medical School (HMS) appointment. Salary and recruitment package are in accordance with Hospital policies; and an HMS appointment at the academic rank of Lecturer, Instructor, or Assistant Professor commensurate with HMS appointment criteria, meeting the minimum teaching requirement, and candidate qualifications.
