Job Description Summary

The Senior Workday Business Analyst (Sr. Workday BA) is part of the HR, Payroll, and Advisor Compensation Technology team within IT. This role serves as a primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, ensuring clear, consistent communication and translation of business needs into well-defined Workday functional solutions.

The Sr. Workday BA is responsible for analyzing requirements, defining recommended Workday configuration and integrations, and documenting functional designs and business processes, while partnering with configuration and technical teams who execute production changes. Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical to success in this role.

Job Description

Hybrid Work Model: This position follows our hybrid work model. The selected candidate is expected to be in the office a minimum of 50% per month at one of the following locations: St. Petersburg, FL; Memphis, TN; Southfield, MI;

Responsibilities 

  • Act as the central communication point between HR/Payroll business partners and IT teams. 

  • Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements. 

  • Define and recommend Workday functional designs across business processes, reporting, integrations, analytics, and security (no direct production configuration). 

  • Create and maintain clear documentation, including:  

  • Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) 

  • Functional design specifications 

  • Process flows, diagrams, and current/future-state models 

  • Translate complex business needs into actionable functional guidance for technical and configuration teams. 

  • Analyze current-state processes, identify gaps, and recommend improvements aligned to Workday best practices. 

  • Support data analysis and troubleshooting related to production issues and enhancements. 

  • Partner with testing teams to define test scenarios, develop test scripts, and support system and integration testing. 

  • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and functional readiness activities. 

  • Work closely with Project Managers and developers on estimates, timelines, and delivery status. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Strong experience with Workday HCM; integration experience and Workday Studio are a plus. 

  • Advanced skills in business analysis, requirements gathering, and functional design. 

  • Proven ability to create process diagrams and clear, structured documentation. 

  • 3–5 years of Business or Technical Analyst experience. 

  • 3+ years of Workday HCM experience, preferably across multiple modules (e.g., Core HCM, Payroll, Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Benefits). 

  • Enterprise and/or financial services experience preferred. 

  • Global Workday experience a plus. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior business and IT stakeholders. 

  • Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile/Waterfall delivery models. 

  • Ability to analyze complex processes, synthesize information, and make sound recommendations. 

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative. 

Licenses / Certifications 

  • Workday Pro Certifications preferred  

Education

Bachelor’s: Accounting, Bachelor’s: Business Administration, Bachelor’s: Computer and Information Science (Required)
