Job Description

Marmon Industrial Water Limited

As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.

ABOUT US

Marmon Industrial Water designs and manufactures advanced water and wastewater treatment solutions through our trusted brands, Graver Water Systems and Ecodyne. Our technologies serve some of the world’s most demanding industries — petrochemical, chemical, power generation, and heavy industrial plants. From raw water pretreatment and ion exchange to wastewater treatment, cooling, and oil/water separation, our systems play a critical role in keeping essential industries running efficiently and sustainably.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Structural Engineer, you will plan, analyze, and design steel and reinforced concrete structures supporting industrial equipment and systems. Typical applications include equipment frames, platforms, stairs, ladders, skid structures, clarifier bridges, piping supports, mobile equipment trailers and ancillary structures.

This role focuses on industrial structures supporting equipment and process systems and involves close collaboration with mechanical and piping disciplines to deliver designs that are safe, efficient, and compliant with all relevant codes and standards. The Structural Engineer will support projects from concept development and detailed engineering through fabrication, installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, analyze and design steel and reinforced concrete structures for industrial facilities and equipment.
  • Perform structural calculations using FEA and hand-calculation methods, ensuring compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines, including mechanical and piping teams, to integrate system and equipment design requirements considering overall project objectives.
  • Incorporate loads and resultants from piping system analyses (CAESAR II) into structural designs.
  • Use structural analysis software such as ANSYS Workbench Suite, RISA, and/or STAAD to build accurate analytical models, integrate analysis results, and manage structural data.
  • Develop, review, and approve structural design specifications, calculation, and engineering deliverables to support fabrication, construction, installation, and operation.
  • Provide design intent, calculations, sketches, and technical direction for structural drawings, and collaborate with designers and drafters to produce detailed fabrication and construction drawings.
  • Evaluate lifting, transportation, erection and temporary load cases for industrial structures where applicable.
  • Recommend design improvements to enhance structural performance, constructability, safety, and cost effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain structural design standards for MIW products and projects.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning, including review of shop drawings, field/site issues, and conducting occasional site visits or field reviews as needed.
  • Perform other related engineering duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus
  • 5+ years of experience in structural analysis and design including steel and reinforced concrete structures, preferably in an industrial or heavy‑equipment environment
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ANSYS Workbench, RISA, or STAAD
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligibility for registration with a provincial engineering regulator
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Revit)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, vendors, subcontractors, and customers
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to project or fabrication sites, as required

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Policy in effect – requires 3 days in office per week
  • Role is office based and may require up to 5% travel annually within North America, including occasional visits to customer or industrial cites
  • Physical demands may vary and could include extended periods of standing and occasional bending or lifting of objects.

Benefits

  • Employer-paid group benefits (Life, AD&D, Health, Dental, Savings, and EAP)
  • Optional Employee Paid Life and Critical Illness Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Virtual Health Care
  • Retirement Plan with Company Match
  • Learning and Development Opportunities
  • Tuition Reimbursement Program
  • Paid Vacation and Personal/sick time
