We are a hybrid, remote-office company dedicated to growing our talent anywhere!
We have onsite locations in: Sioux Falls, SD, Scottsdale, AZ, Louisville, KY, Troy, MI, Franklin, TN, Easton, PA.
At Pathward, we take tremendous pride in our purpose to create financial inclusion for all™. We are a financial empowerment company that works with innovators to increase financial availability, choice, and opportunity for all. We strive to remove barriers that traditional institutions put in the way of financial access, and promote economic mobility by providing responsible, secure, high quality financial products.
We are a team of problem solvers and innovators who celebrate our differences and know that our unique perspectives make us stronger and well-positioned for success. We celebrate, and embrace, our team members through our *HUMBLE*HUNGRY*SMART approach, and we believe that we are strongest when we embrace the voices of our employees, customers, partners, and the communities we serve.
About the Role:
Thought leadership is most effective when it delivers real value to communities. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the launch of a digital-first financial literacy program designed to expand financial access, and helping bring it to life through a social-led campaign.
You will work closely with the VP of Financial Access Center of Excellence, and collaborate with teams across communications, graphic design, and program stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working remotely, managing their time independently, and contributing in a self-paced environment.
What You Will Do:
Launch a digital financial literacy program (build from plan to live)
- Assist in coordinating key steps to prepare a financial literacy program for launch (content readiness, stakeholder reviews, and timeline tracking)
- Help organize program components such as content modules, landing page copy, FAQs, disclaimers, and user pathways) to make the experience easy to navigate and share.
- Track milestones, document feedback, dependencies, and approvals; maintain clear records of decisions and next steps clearly.
Contribute to a social media campaign
- Help develop a social media content calendar aligned to program goals
- Draft and refine social content (educational post, short-form series, awareness content)
- Build a small library of evergreen content that can be reused over time
- Coordinate feedback and approvals with internal partners (brand, compliance, etc.)
- Collaborate with creative partners to request and refine visual assets
Define success metrics and reporting with leadership
- Work with the VP to establish success metrics for public engagement (e.g., awareness, interaction, click-through, sign-ups/completions—based on how the program is structured)
- Build a simple reporting cadence (weekly snapshot + end-of-internship summary) and recommend optimizations based on performance trends
Assist with thought leadership content development
- Support the VP with drafting and packaging thought leadership content tied to financial access and literacy (e.g., short posts, FAQs, web copy, executive-ready summaries)
- Assist with occasional communication needs (newsroom drafts, internal write-ups, or other communications)
What You'll Learn:
- How a national bank brings a public-facing education initiative to market—balancing impact, brand, and governance.
- Practical campaign planning and execution in a regulated environment: content calendars, creative briefs, stakeholder management, and iteration based on results.
- How to create digital content (financial access) that educates and engages audiences
- How to build performance metrics that inform communication strategies that leaders can use to make decisions.
What You Will Need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (rising junior/senior preferred) in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to tailor messages for public audiences (clear, accurate, concise).
- Comfort with social platforms and an interest in how brands educate audiences digitally.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams with guidance and deadlines.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a remote, self-directed environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating content for social media (academic, personal, campus org, internship, or portfolio work).
- Familiarity with basic performance reporting (engagement metrics, simple dashboards/spreadsheets).
- Interest in financial literacy, community impact, education, public policy, or financial access.
Competencies We’re Looking For:
- Curiosity + learning agility: You ask good questions and seek to understand the “why.”
- Professional judgment: You handle reviews/feedback well and can incorporate edits quickly.
- Collaboration: You can work across teams and keep stakeholders aligned.
- Ownership: You move work forward, proactively communicate, and document progress in a remote setting.
Internship Deliverables (what you’ll produce):
