Senior Quality Assurance Manager – QE Automation

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead our Quality Engineering automation efforts within the Solution Acceleration & Innovation Team. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with people leadership, requiring the successful candidate to manage QE automation initiatives, mentor functional and automation talent, and partner with development teams to embed comprehensive testing practices throughout our software delivery lifecycle.

What will you do?

• Manage and mentor a QE Engineer, fostering career growth and a culture of continuous improvement within the QE function.

• Define and oversee end-to-end test automation frameworks for iOS apps and backend services, including architecture, tools, and CI/CD integration.

• Lead iOS automation testing, developing and maintaining test suites across multiple versions and devices, while collaborating with developers on testable requirements.

• Oversee backend services testing for Java-based APIs, designing automation frameworks and ensuring coverage for microservices architectures.

• Drive automation strategy using tools like Cucumber, Playwright, and Selenium, establishing best practices and test data management.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align automation strategies, testing standards, and shift-left practices for early quality integration.

• Communicate QE metrics, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment on quality goals.

• Support developers through knowledge-sharing, testable code guidance, and troubleshooting automation failures to enhance overall product quality.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• 5+ years in QA/QE roles, including 3+ years in management/leadership, with 4+ years of hands-on test automation experience (iOS and backend services).

• Expertise in iOS automation frameworks (XCUITest, Appium, or equivalent) and Java-based backend/API automation (Appium, Postman, JUnit).

• Proficiency in programming languages: Java and Python (SWIFT/C# a bonus).

• Knowledge of test automation frameworks, CI/CD integration (Jenkins, Git), Agile/Scrum methodologies, and test management tools.

• Understanding of API testing, performance testing, and security testing principles

• Strong communication, problem-solving, stakeholder management abilities and leadership skills foster team growth, drive quality initiatives, and influence cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have:

• Experience with RBC's technology stack

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/OCP/AKS) and orchestration platforms

• Knowledge of accessibility testing and compliance standards

• Experience with cloud-based testing platforms
