Do you want to define the next generation of how and what Amazon customers are watching? Prime Video is one of the leading digital video services on the Internet today, and we're just getting started changing the way millions of people enjoy content.
We are currently seeking a Senior Content Acquisition Manager to join our Prime Video Japan licensing team. Working as an individual contributor, you will own the end-to-end workflow for the development and launch of Prime member-exclusive first-run content mainly for Japanese TV dramas and Japanese movies. You will lead negotiations with content producers, licensing sales persons of TV broadcasters/film production companies, and content stakeholders to accelerate our first run content strategy and develop exclusive entertainment content for Prime members.
This role offers the opportunity to establish and manage strong relationships with content providers while driving the execution of content acquisition strategies across a variety of business models, including flat fee licensing, pay for performance, and more. You will participate in all aspects of content development, negotiate deal terms, secure internal approvals, and execute contracts to deliver results for both our stakeholders and customers.
Key job responsibilities
• Own end-to-end development and launch of Prime-exclusive first-run content, from initial negotiations through contract execution
• Negotiate SVOD and TVOD licensing agreements with independent producers, distributors, TV networks, and film production companies across multiple business models
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with content providers, serving as the primary point of contact
• Leverage customer data and viewing patterns to inform acquisition decisions and identify emerging content opportunities
• Secure creative asset approvals from licensors and coordinate with marketing teams for promotional activities
• Partner cross-functionally with legal, finance, and marketing teams to execute content strategies
• Conduct financial analysis and performance forecasting to support deal evaluation and business case development
• Demonstrate ownership and bias for action when solving time-sensitive challenges
A day in the life
• Identify and develop content with potential to improve customer experience in our video business
• Project performance metrics for each content opportunity, including estimated new customer acquisition, viewing hours, and appropriate license costs
• Negotiate with content holders (producers, film/TV production companies, artist agencies) to develop and acquire exclusive content
• Create approval documentation to justify acquisition decisions and secure internal greenlight for each content deal
• Draft contracts in collaboration with legal teams and finalize agreements with partners
• Coordinate post-execution activities, including marketing meetings and launch planning with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth content launches
