What you will be doing:

  • Position and align test components to the engine to prepare the engine for test bench installation; manually or using hoists, and verify parts clearances
  • Fasten and install piping, fixtures, wiring and/or electrical components to the engine to prepare the engine for test bench
  • Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies
  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints and specifications manuals
  • Maintain and lubricate parts and components pertaining to the test bench
  • Inspect, operate, and test completed engines using a dynamometer, to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer specifications
  • Learn, interpret and understand characteristic differences between engine models
  • Learn, interpret and understand the interactions between the engine and the test bench
  • Keep Team Leader abreast of progress, developments and pending problems
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas to meet departmental housekeeping targets and comply with safety regulations to help ensure a safe working environment
  • Identify and reduce non-value-added work
  • Perform special projects as may be required and maintain on the job flexibility by providing support in assembly and other production related areas
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years in a mechanical, engine or automotive trade school or equivalent Associates Degree; or 3 years of experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Ability to operate scanning devices for system communications
  • Ability to interpret knowledge of MTU America products, policies and procedures
  • Experience in engine control systems, design, function and assembly, including marine applications
  • Experience in operating an engine dynamometer
  • Experience in computer based automated programs
  • Ability to obtain appropriate power vehicle license (Flatbed, Hi-Lo, & Mule) when necessary
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees in a team atmosphere
  • Basic ability to interpret control plans, blueprints, build documents, schematic drawings, layouts, documents regarding engine assembly and testing and quality requirements (Quality Alerts, Second Checks, etc.)
  • Basic oral and written communication skills
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Basic PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate a computer and/or scanning devices
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of engine control systems, design, assembly and function
  • Diesel engine diagnostics & troubleshooting
  • Experience or knowledge in computer-based diagnostics tools and computer based automated program​
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards
