Essential Functions- Loads & Dynamics:
- Under limited supervision, the candidate will develop complex dynamic models of launch vehicles, verify model quality, and determine steady and transient launch vehicle responses during liftoff, ascent, and staging.
- Performing multi-body kinematics simulations for separation events like fairing deployment, staging, and spacecraft separation.
- Define scope of task, perform analyses utilizing appropriate classical and computer aided techniques, and prepare results for presentations and analysis reports.
- Contribute to the success of vital defense systems that protect the nation by supporting cutting-edge development of upcoming long-range missile defense interceptors, targets, space launch, and strike vehicles.
Basic Qualifications for Engineer Systems Modeling & Simulation - Level 2:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 0 years of related engineering experience
- Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearance
- In-depth knowledge of vibration theory, structural dynamics, rigid body dynamics, and finite element methods
Basic Qualifications for Engineer Systems Modeling & Simulation - Level 3:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 years of related engineering experience
- Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearance
- In-depth knowledge of vibration theory, structural dynamics, rigid body dynamics, and finite element methods
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher
- Bachelors or Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Proficiency in FEA software, preferably NASTRAN , ABAQUS, or Femap
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python
- Ability to apply fundamental analytical techniques and prepare written analyses
- Previous experience with launch vehicle coupled loads analysis (CLA) and Craig-Bampton models
- Experience with modal test, modal analysis, or explicit dynamics/FEA
- Familiarity with Linux
