ASU's Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation (MLFC) seeks a collaborative, student-centered, and relationship-driven Professional Experience Coordinator to support students as they engage in internships, practicum, clinical experiences, student teaching, and other work-based learning opportunities. As a member of the Office of Academic and Career Success, this role helps connect students to meaningful professional experiences that support academic success, career readiness, and workforce preparation. The coordinator serves as a key connector among students, faculty, school districts, employers, community partners, and university colleagues to ensure students successfully navigate professional experience requirements and opportunities.
This position combines student support, relationship management, coordination, and problem-solving. Coordinators help students understand requirements, prepare for professional experiences, navigate challenges, and connect with resources while also collaborating with external partners and internal stakeholders to strengthen experiential learning opportunities. Successful candidates are highly collaborative, adaptable, student-focused professionals who thrive in relationship-centered environments and are committed to supporting student success through meaningful professional experiences.
Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation operates on both the Tempe and West Valley campuses. Campus assignment will be confirmed at time of employment based on the needs of the department and the candidate. Occasional travel to the alternate campus may be required.
Essential Duties:
Student Support and Professional Experience Coordination
Guide students through professional experience requirements, processes, timelines, and expectations.
Support students in identifying and preparing for internships, practicum, student teaching, clinical experiences, and other workforce-connected learning opportunities.
Conduct individualized coaching conversations to help students align professional experiences with academic and career goals.
Assist students in understanding certification, compliance, placement, and program requirements.
Monitor student progress and provide proactive support throughout the professional experience lifecycle.
Serve as a resource for students experiencing challenges during professional experiences and coordinate support as needed.
Connect students with academic, career, wellness, and university resources that support persistence and success.
Partnership and Relationship Management
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, districts, employers, community organizations, mentors, and other professional partners.
Coordinate communication among students, faculty, mentors, supervisors, and partner organizations.
Support the development and maintenance of professional experience opportunities aligned with program needs.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality learning experiences.
Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships and expand experiential learning opportunities.
Operations and Continuous Improvement
Maintain accurate records, documentation, and tracking of professional experiences using university systems and databases.
Monitor placement, participation, and partnership data to support reporting and continuous improvement efforts.
Contribute to process improvements that enhance student, faculty, and partner experiences.
Participate in team planning, problem-solving, and collaborative initiatives that support student success.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience supporting students in higher education, workforce development, K-12 education, career services, advising, or related environments.
Experience cultivating and maintaining professional relationships with external stakeholders.
Knowledge of PK-12 education systems, educator preparation programs, workforce development, or experiential learning models.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complex processes simultaneously.
Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working collaboratively across teams and organizational boundaries.
Experience utilizing technology and data systems to support operations and student success.
Ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
Frequent standing for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
MLFC supports flexible work options for certain positions, such as alternate work schedules and hybrid remote, subject to approvals per ASU policy.
