The NICU is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator for a per diem 1st shift position. The position is for 12-hour shifts and for additional unit coverage with partial shift. Shift start time is typically 7 am. Hours per week will vary depending on unit needs.
The Health Unit Coordinator provides a welcoming and resourceful presence as the first contact for patients, families, friends and visitors. This is a highly visible position and requires a professional presence. Provides outstanding communication and problem solving skills, serves as a key team member in coordinating workflow, data and communications for the department. Involved in patient flow management, patient data and order entry, charge capture and revenue management, low level troubleshooting for computer devices, and providing patients, physicians, and other customers with a “Something More” experience.
Education
Minimum High School Diploma
Preferred One year of college course or higher level training.

Preferred Health Unit Coordinator Certification
Related Experience
Minimum N/A
Preferred One year of experience in Hospital, Medical Registration/Billing or Health Unit. Coordinator experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum knowledge of medical terminology. Good computer and data entry skills. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with interruptions while maintaining an excellent customer focus. Organizational and multi-tasking skills, and attentive to detail. Professional presence and vocabulary. Pleasant and helpful demeanor.
Computer Competency
Minimum Familiarity with standard desktop and windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.

Minimum Sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Extensive computer work. Perform detailed tasks. Able to work with interruptions and changing work priorities. Multi-task.
