Job Description

About Marvell

Marvell’s semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities.

At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead.

Your Team, Your Impact

This business group sits at the forefront of Marvell’s photonics and advanced packaging strategy, enabling reliable, high‑volume deployment of silicon photonics and co‑packaged optics for next‑generation AI and cloud infrastructure. By embedding supplier quality and reliability rigor early, the team accelerates time‑to‑market while protecting customer confidence. The technologies supported by this group are critical to scaling energy‑efficient AI systems and global data center infrastructure worldwide.

What You Can Expect

The  Product Quality Engineer ( PQE) is a technical and execution leader responsible for end-to-end product quality and reliability governance across the product lifecycle—from early development through high-volume manufacturing and end-of-life. This role owns quality strategy, risk posture, and execution outcomes for complex products, leading cross-functional teams to deliver on-time, high-confidence releases while protecting customer trust.

Key Responsibilities

Lifecycle Quality Leadership

  • Own product quality governance and sign-off across Proposal Approval (PA), Production Release (PRU), Mass Production (HVM) readiness, and End-of-Life (EOL).

  • Define, maintain, and execute the Product Quality Plan (PQP), including quality targets, CTQs, risk mitigation plans, and validation strategies.

  • Drive data-based lifecycle gate decisions and escalate risks impacting delivery or customer confidence.

Quality & Reliability Strategy

  • Establish quality and reliability targets including yield, defect rates, escape risk, and reliability margins.

  • Lead qualification strategy and execution across DVT, PVT, and MP phases.

  • Ensure system-level reliability requirements are met with sufficient margin.

Manufacturing & Supplier Quality Ownership

  • Define and enforce manufacturing quality controls including IQC, IPQC, FQC, SPC, and stop-ship criteria.

  • Serve as the primary quality escalation owner for FAB and OSAT partners.

  • Own PCN strategy and execution to balance internal risk and customer transparency.

Failure Analysis & Corrective Action Leadership

  • Lead complex failure analysis spanning manufacturing, qualification, and field returns.

  • Drive root cause identification, CAPA implementation, and effectiveness verification.

  • Ensure alignment between manufacturing, reliability, and field failure mechanisms.

Cross-Functional & Customer Interface

  • Act as the single quality owner across design, product, test, manufacturing, supplier, and customer teams.

  • Represent product quality status and risks in executive and customer-facing forums.

  • Partner with engineering teams to close test coverage gaps and prevent escapes.

Metrics, Governance & Mentorship

  • Define and drive quality metrics, dashboards, and review cadence.

  • Identify leading indicators of quality risk and implement mitigations.

  • Mentor junior PQEs and influence broader quality standards.

What We're Looking For

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Physics, or related field).

    • 8+ years of experience in product quality, reliability engineering, manufacturing quality, or supplier quality.

    • Proven ownership of product quality across multiple lifecycle phases.

    • Strong background in qualification, manufacturing processes, and root-cause analysis.

    • Ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with semiconductor devices, advanced packaging, photonics, or system-level products.

    • Deep familiarity with reliability qualification and field quality metrics.

    • Experience driving PCNs, change control, and supplier governance.

    • Strong executive- and customer-facing communication skills.

Success in This Role Looks Like

    • No late-stage quality surprises at PRU or HVM.

    • Clear, proactive quality risk posture understood by leadership.

    • Rapid containment and recovery from supplier or manufacturing excursions.

    • High customer confidence and sustained outgoing quality and reliability.

    Additional Compensation and Benefit Elements

With competitive compensation and great benefits, you will enjoy our workstyle within an environment of shared collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity. We’re dedicated to giving our people the tools and resources they need to succeed in doing work that matters, and to grow and develop with us.
